The video opens with title text over a clip of zombies crowding a sandstone village: "October Minecraft Hardcore Challenge," "What's the challenge?" and "Save Aerdis Village!" Then comes "Episode 1, Gathering Supplies." Game show host Michael Deering's October mission is to make life good for the villagers of Aerdis Village, in hardcore mode on Minecraft 1.6.4. The usual rules sit on top: no mods, no beds, no killing animals and nothing off camera.
Four on the call
Basket isn't alone this time, at least not on the call. Captions name the guest voices: Max_Writer, lostinthefort and Scoti Garbidis. Each one plays their own copy of the same seed, so nobody else turns up in Basket's world. "Hey everybody, Basket here." It's "time to plant some trees, gentlemen," and the animal rule comes up right away: "This is the one where you can't kill any animals." "I almost killed the sheep first thing," someone admits, and sheep keep wandering through the trees as they chop.
Lumberjack day
Basket makes a crafting table, a wooden axe and then stone tools, and spends most of the day clearing trees, mostly oak, the kind that drops apples. The call turns into an apple count. "Four apples." "Ten apples, what am I gonna do with all these apples?" "I hate you all." By the end Basket's hotbar holds nine of them.
The village can wait
Nobody has seen Aerdis Village yet. One voice lays out the plan: "I am not going to the village day one. I am going to get as much cobblestone as possible, coal, wood," enough "to light the entire area and put a wall around the entire area." The worry is time: "we only have nine days." Someone shares a tip: zombies can spawn inside the houses and on the roofs, so "light the roof." Somebody else sums up the job: "We're a servant, and there's a difference."
Underground at dusk
The sun drops while Basket is still out in the trees. Basket digs into a hillside, sets down a crafting table and a furnace, and lights the way into a cave. There's coal down there, and iron.
The night becomes a loop between the cave and the furnace. Iron goes in, ingots come out, and the armor builds up piece by piece: iron boots, then a chestplate. On the call one voice sits in a hole "trying not to starve to death" while another hears skeletons outside.
A full set by morning
In the last minutes Basket smelts the final batch and crafts iron leggings. That completes the set: helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots, with a bucket in the inventory too. Basket digs up toward the surface and sees light. "I think it's day." "I'm gonna call it."
Basket ends the first day alive, still away from the village, with wood, cobblestone and coal stocked up, nine apples and a full suit of iron. The game pauses and the end card follows, with no gameplay after it.
