Day nine is the last day of Michael Deering's October challenge, where the job is to make life good for the villagers of Aerdis Village in hardcore mode. The same two voices from the earlier episodes are on the call, though no captions name them this time. With the walls up and the houses built, Basket spends the final day on the small stuff: pots, mats, roads and music. First on the list is clay. "I'm going to try and get some clay. Actually not try to. I know where it is."
Clay from the lake
Basket breaks a gap in the cobblestone wall and heads out across the sand to the lake. The iron shovel goes to work underwater, digging clay off the bottom. On the way back in, Basket patches the wall again.
Back in the village, the clay goes into a furnace and comes out as bricks. Basket crafts more furnaces and sets them up in one of the houses.
Sleeping mats and flower pots
Inside the houses, Basket starts laying carpet on the floors. "There we go, there's a nice sleeping mat for you guys." A real bed isn't on the table. "I wish I had enough wool to make a bed."
The bricks become flower pots. Basket builds little tables out of oak planks, puts a pot on each, and plants cactus in them, with a yellow flower in one by the jukebox. Out in the lanes, sandstone stairs go in wherever the road steps up.
Then it's back to the jukebox house from the day before. A music disc goes in, and "Now playing: C418 - cat" comes up on the screen. "Go ahead and start up my music again." Someone on the call isn't thrilled about it: "If you win just because you have a jukebox, I'm going to be so mad."
A night outside the wall
When it gets dark, Basket goes over the wall into the desert. Two skeletons come in with bows, and Basket takes them on with the iron sword. A pair of creepers walks up next and blows a crater in the sand. A zombie follows.
Out there, Basket also empties the lava bucket onto the sand and pours the water bucket over it. Back inside, a stone pickaxe comes out of the big chest, and Basket walks the lanes adding more sandstone stairs to the roads.
The carpet-and-cactus gates do their job. Zombies gather outside one of them and get no further.
A party at the jukebox
Late in the night Basket puts the disc on again, and the villagers pack into the room around the stone counter.
There's still one more decoration job. Basket shears the sheep inside the walls, crafts the wool into carpet, and lays more mats. As the sky starts to turn, a spider turns up by one of the houses and goes after Basket.
The last sunrise
The sun comes up on day nine, and Basket is still alive. When the call runs through what each village has to show, Basket starts with the music: "I have a jukebox with good music." The carpet gates come up too.
The last shot swings the camera around to Basket in full iron armor, standing in the village. The end card follows, and there's no gameplay after it. Nothing on screen says who won the month.
