"We're back at the Skelly Spawner that I found a little ways ago," Basket says, opening on the skeleton spawner from Episode 6 in third person after a few too many presses of F5. The plan is an experience and loot grinder, and Basket wants to try something different with it.
Four elevators instead of one
The usual design drops the skeletons, funnels them to one water elevator, brings them up and drops them again. "Because I've done those plenty of times I think I might try and mix it up." This time the skeletons will fall all the way down a big dug-out chamber, out of range of the spawner, and four water elevators, one in each corner, will carry them to the top, across, and down into a kill spot. A library and enchanting area go next to it. Parts will be ice, since Basket likes how water looks through it.
Clearing the area turned up a spider spawner too. A lava trap for string is a later project.
Signs, ice and water
Each elevator is a column of water held up by signs, placed one by one on the way up. Writing a sign does not pause the game on a server, Basket notes, so that part is slower than in single player. Across the top, more signs restart the water flow before it hits its eight-block limit. Basket finds that ice set on top of a sign can be broken to leave a water source behind. The signs run out, a crafting bench goes down, and more get made on the spot.
Up near the ceiling the footage gets very dark, and an edited-in note apologizes for it. Partway through, 1WTC joins and types "Hello," and Basket answers "Heyas!"
Melting ice and dead spots
The drop into the kill spot gets cobblestone for now, and a sign set one block lower leaves room to breathe at the bottom. Some spots in the streams turn out to be still water, and more signs fix most of them. Then the ice starts melting. "There must be lava or something on the other side of this," Basket says, and there was: "There's actually a big lava ravine over there."
The see-through effect Basket hoped for, with skeletons looking like they float in the air, did not happen. The chute is switched to glass.
Turning it on
Basket pulls out the last platforms while the first skeletons spawn and start shooting. "Oops, that arrow was in my head." They get pulled up fast. The first one lands at the kill spot and Basket finishes it with a fist. One skeleton sits stuck in a dead spot until another one bumps it loose. "I mean this is obviously overkill with the three different chutes and everything. But I think it looks cool."
The finished room
After some off-camera work, the room is done. Signed chests line the walls, one for each enchantment, next to an enchanting table with bookshelves. Loot drops into a sorting system with an item elevator on a hopper timer, so arrows and bones mostly land in their own chests. It is not perfect, and Basket may ask another player with a big sorting room to help. A stone sword does the killing, and at 30 levels Basket enchants something and goes back for more. Near the end Th3pooka joins the game.
"So this is my new XP area." The end card plays over the finished room, and nothing follows it.
