"This is the Pipe Dream livestream with BasketMC," the stream opens, on a server that had only just opened for Minecraft 1.7. The world runs on UHC difficulty, so health does not come back on its own, and over almost three hours Basket goes caving with three other players, dies once, helps split the haul and then heads alone into the Nether for brewing supplies.
Gearing up at spawn
Virii333, rekozma and Scoti_Garbidis are all on hand at spawn, where a beacon keeps Regeneration and Resistance on anyone standing nearby. Outside its range, a voice warns, every hit sticks. The others are generous. One of them trades a villager for a diamond pick so Basket can keep the diamonds, and Basket's iron armor gets enchanted up to Protection II. Before leaving, the group looks over a crater outside town where, a voice says, two creepers once went off back to back.
Into the caves
The trip starts in a hole in the ground not far from town. Within minutes the group finds a zombie spawner with a couple of chests beside it, and a voice reports a saddle in one of them. From there it is a long crawl through tunnels, a ravine and pockets of lava. Torches go on both walls, coal, iron, gold and redstone come out of the rock, and voices call out emeralds and diamonds in ones and twos. The group keeps splitting up and finding each other again by spotting nameplates through the stone.
UHC difficulty keeps everyone careful. Health potions get passed around, and an ender chest comes out mid-cave so the diamonds and emeralds can go somewhere safe. rekozma drops out of the game partway through and comes back later.
Two deaths
The cave wins in the end. The chat reports "Scoti_Garbidis was burnt to a crisp whilst fighting Virii333." A few minutes later, while the group pillars up toward the surface, a creeper turns up and Basket's screen goes red: "BasketMC was doomed to fall by Creeper." "That was my first death," a voice tells the stream.
Basket respawns at spawn with an empty hotbar and walks back out with Scoti_Garbidis through a thunderstorm. Down in the cave, the dropped gear has been gathered into a large chest, and the iron chestplate comes back out of it. Before leaving, a voice stocks a chest at the cave entrance with two potions for whoever needs them next.
Splitting the haul
Back at spawn, after dark, everything goes into a pair of large chests near the nether portal. Lapis, iron, redstone, coal blocks and stacks of cobble fill the rows. On voice, the diamond ore goes through a Fortune pick first so there is more to share, and the piles are counted out by hand. When the diamonds will not divide evenly, a voice insists the extra goes to Basket: "it's your stream, man."
With some of the lapis, Basket crafts blue stained glass. On voice, the plan is a home under a pond, with a glass roof through the water and a hidden way in.
A solo run to the fortress
The last stretch is the Nether. The fortress route from spawn is only loosely marked with stray torches, so the trip there is slow, and one of the others lays half slabs and jack-o'-lanterns along the way back. At the fortress there is a blaze spawner with a small safe room built beside it. Basket waits for blazes to drift down, steps out to fight a few, and picks up the first blaze rod along with the Into Fire achievement. By the end a voice counts "four Blaze Rods, three Magma Cream," plus quartz, with some glowstone picked up on the way out.
Back to the pond
Through the portal again, Basket drops off the haul and sets down soul sand for nether wart near the water. The plan, on voice, is a bridge across the pond with a secret door inside one of its pillars. The stream ends in daylight on a cobblestone path, with the house under the pond still only an idea.
