Light It Up: RainCloud SMP Episode 3

  • Published on

Episode 3 follows straight on from Spawning Pads, which ended with Team B.S. deciding the dark caves under their farm needed light. Basket and Scoti_Garbidis spend almost the whole episode underground with stacks of torches. They light a branch mine, a ravine and a lot of side caves, and pick up redstone, emeralds and diamonds as they go. At the end they're back on the surface, and the mob sorter is next.

It works, now go light things

The episode opens back at the farm. "So it works." One mob "fell out," or at least its stuff did when it died, so they want to "make it bigger." First, though: "It's time to do some lighting, lots and lots and lots of lighting." Torches come out of the chests, and the charcoal furnaces get more wood so they keep cooking while the two are away.

Down the branch mine

One of them had already started a branch mine, "just because I was like, oh, we're gonna need some resources to do some building," and ran out of torches partway. There are caves at the bottom, and a skeleton is still hanging around the end of the hallway. Nobody knows how far out they need to light. "Like a hundred blocks, right?" "Maybe."

Armor and a fortune pick come down from the surface. Redstone gets mined, "cuz we might want some redstone for stuff." Gold gets grabbed too, even though they don't need it, since there's "a bunch" from the pig farm.

The ravine

Then they find water, two creepers and "a ravine, awesome." The plan is to light "the floor first," before the walls. A block that breaks turns out to be a silverfish, and one emerald ore gives up four emeralds. The caves around it go every direction, "Swiss cheese over here," and the two split up to cover more of it. "The fact that we're not together means that we are taking care of more stuff." One of them puts torches on the left, "like I always do," to find the way back.

Diamonds

Past some zombies by the water, the diamonds start showing up. One vein gives "23 diamonds," and the joke follows: "Invite us to your server, we dig up all of your diamonds." A jump turns out to be over lava, which ends fine. "Never walk on gravel over lava." By the end of the trip they're at "36 diamonds now."

Where it ends

Both staircase up to the surface, and neither knows where home is. They look for the beacon, find it, and light the dark spots on the way back. Back at the farm, a gap in the fence gets patched so mobs can't hop over. "I think next time we're gonna start working on the sorter," and they say goodbye on the platform.
