Episode 9 opens right where Episode 8 stopped: Basket and PsychoSFK in the dark forest, standing over the gear dropped in the fight with kanivatimber and Sannie6. AngryK9's "160 MINUTE MARK" is still in chat. GopherCraft is down to two, since Scoti_Garbidis is out of the match.
Sorting the pile
The two pick through the drops. Basket pulls on a pair of Diamond Boots with Protection I and looks over an Iron Sword with Sharpness II and Knockback I. "There's another strength potion over here if you want it." Basket puts down a crafting table and turns gold and apples into golden apples.
Nobody likes staying put. "I don't like hanging out here." They pull back toward the pile, and then someone spots a player in a diamond helmet out in the trees. Arrows go both ways. One of them asks a fair question mid-fight: "Strength doesn't help bows, right?"
Out of the match
Chat is busy. Moonwillow92 announces a forfeit, ForU2nV writes "we understand," and dolinmyster says "see ya." Moonwillow92 posts "going out with style," Somatomay answers "farewell, my good teammate," and chat shows "Moonwillow92 fell from a high place."
When Basket opens the Tab list, BasketMC and PsychoSFK are still in the live part of it. Scoti_Garbidis is in the gray part with the others who are out. One of them wonders out loud if Scoti_Garbidis is watching.
A player in the canopy
The other player keeps the high ground, up in the dark oak canopy. "Lava just appeared above me!" They scramble out from under it and eat apples to heal. Basket and PsychoSFK climb up onto the treetops too, but their arrows keep missing.
In chat, MNSweet asks whether the border stops at 200 diameter or 200 radius. AngryK9 answers: "it will be an area of 200x200 when it stops, so 200 diameter." Then dolinmyster adds, "The odds are in your favor today."
Burning it down
Since they can't hit the player in the trees, they decide to take the trees away. Basket breaks gravel until there is flint, then switches to flint and steel. "Should I start burning the place down?" "Yeah, sure. Just don't do it right next to me."
Fire spreads across the forest, through giant mushrooms and around a tall cobblestone pillar. The smoke and flames make it hard to keep track of anyone, teammate included. Basket eats another golden apple during the chase. "This is ridiculous." In chat, ImKibitz writes "get ding'd," MNSweet earns an achievement, and johnthehobbit writes "grats."
Dirt towers in the rain
By dusk the rain is back. "Dirt tower, somebody in it, directly in front of us." Then they spot the player they've been chasing all episode, off to the left. The arrows miss again. One of them thinks the other player is just trying to get them to waste arrows. The other still has 50.
One of them takes an arrow and backs off to eat an apple. "What an annoying fight." AngryK9 posts "180 MINUTE MARK," and the episode ends with Basket and PsychoSFK still in the match, standing in the rain at night with the other player out of sight again.
