Real Cozy: Captive Minecraft 4 Episode 1

  • Published on

Welcome to a brand new series. We are kicking off Captive Minecraft 4: Release the B.S., where we start trapped in a tiny one-block box and the only way out is by earning achievements. Every achievement we grab pushes the border out a little further, so the whole map is one big to-do list.

Trapped in a cozy little box

We spawn shoulder to shoulder in a box so small it is honestly kind of cozy in here, man. The rule of Captive Minecraft is simple: we are stuck, and as we get achievements we get to expand the walls and slowly break free. That is the whole hook of this map, and it is why the series is called Release the B.S.

First order of business is the first achievement, and that means chopping the one oak tree crammed in the corner with us. We had to be careful not to swing at each other while we punched wood, but we got it, and the border popped out for both of us at once. One achievement down, a whole list to go.

Journal entries and mystery chests

As the space opened up we found chests tucked into the walls, and this map came with a little story built in. Scoti spotted one we could actually reach and pointed Basket over to grab it. There are journal entries scattered around, written by someone who signs off as TLD, talking about reaching the area marked on the map, digging down, and getting buried by an avalanche with no shovel to dig back out. Creepy stuff for a snowy box.

The chests were not empty either. We dug out some pork chop, raw beef, a leather tunic, and an apple to get us started. There is also a quartz block sitting there as a marker that we made very sure not to bury, because covering it up felt like a bad idea.

Tearing through the early achievements

This first episode is the fast one. We warned you up front that the early achievements come quick and then it turns into a slow grind, so we leaned into it. Scoti took point on the crafting bench and kept the tools coming for both of us. Crafting bench, wooden pickaxe, a sword, upgrading tools, grabbing cobble for a furnace, we just kept knocking them out.

We were tearing through these achievements and the border kept expanding with every one. Every few blocks of progress opened up a little more room to work with, which is exactly the loop that makes this map so much fun to grind.

Stair-stepping down through the snow

The catch is that this whole map is buried in snow and ice, and the terrain does not make it easy to move around. We could not just casually stair-step down into the open pit below us, so we made a shovel, packed a half stack of snow, and used snow blocks as a step-down tool to safely climb into the hole.

There is water and ice down here too, and we made a point not to break the ice by accident so we do not flood ourselves. Basket also grabbed a torch and just took the plunge down into the dark to see what was waiting.

The room of monuments and the cave below

Down at the bottom we found something genuinely strange: a room of monuments, all lit up, sitting in the middle of the snow. There was cobble to mine down there, which meant more achievements and more border, so we cut some snow stairs and got to work.

Then we started digging under the room and heard exactly what you do not want to hear, spiders and zombies waking up in a cave right below us. Bones from skeletons with bows, a creeper strolling in, leather armor in one of the chests, it got hectic fast. That is a solid place to leave it. We will see if the B.S. gets released next time. Thanks for watching, and welcome to Captive Minecraft 4 with Team B.S.
