Welcome back to Release the B.S. Basket and Scoti here, stuck in a dark, monster-packed cave and testing a theory: can we use flowing water to shove all these mobs back so we can safely knock out achievements and grow the border?
Water vs. the Mob Cave
The whole plan for this episode is water. If there's water pushing things back, maybe we can hold our ground while the cave throws creepers, skeletons, and spiders at us in the pitch dark. So we start hauling water up and trying to route it where it'll do the most good.
It gets hairy fast. Someone's suffocating skeletons in gravel, the creepers are very real, and there's a spider we keep chasing around for a monster hunter achievement. It's dark enough that even with brightness cranked all the way up we can barely see the walls, so torches and water become the two things standing between us and a very bad time.
Sorting the Journal Pieces
Once we get a chest open we find some food and get a furnace going for steak, pork, and mutton. We also start pulling out journal pieces, and they're all out of order. We've got entries from day 18, day 29, day 34, and day 48, so we line them up along the bottom of a box to try to read the story in the right sequence. One of them mentions finding the ancient monuments deep in the snow, which turns out to matter later.
Farming, Bone Meal, and Bread
With a bit of breathing room we get to work on food that doesn't run out. We till the land next to the water, plant seeds, and start thinking about bone meal to speed the grass along. The goal is bread, and when that achievement finally pops it does the best thing in this map: all our stats refill. Our hunger goes all the way back up. In a world this dark and this dangerous, a free full hunger bar is a big deal.
Iron, Dyes, and Hardened Clay
Down in the cave one of us hits a huge vein of iron and hauls it up to smelt, which knocks out another achievement. Then the real puzzle of the episode shows up: the monuments. To build them we need hardened clay in specific colors, so we start making dyes and testing which ones are actually in range. We get red, we get yellow, we confirm orange is close. The catch is you seem to need eight hardened clay around each monument, and we're not sure we have anywhere near enough clay to pull that off yet.
Wrapping up the first haul
We rack up a few more rewards, run low on clay, and decide to call it there. We'll be back next time to figure out these monuments and keep chipping away at the border.
That's Water Tricks. Thanks for watching Captive Minecraft with Team B.S., and we'll see you in the next one.
