We finally cracked the border open on Captive Minecraft. Scoti got us rolling by hollering over at Basket that it was time to release the B.S., and Episode 3 was all about scraping together enough resources for our first monument. Along the way we penned up a herd of mooshrooms and stumbled onto a zombie dungeon. Welcome back to Release the B.S.
The Leftover Chest
We started the episode by getting into a chest we had walked right past last time. Inside was a grab bag of goodies: a lingering potion of luck, a couple of golden ingots, some arrows, and a stack of porkchops. Not bad for something we almost missed.
From there it was housekeeping. We had clay in the furnace and clay still buried in the walls, so we spent a few minutes cooking pork chops, making pickaxes, and pulling resources up to the monument room. Everything felt scarce this early, so nothing got wasted.
Digging Down for Iron
With the surface tidied up, we cut a staircase down into the dark to hunt for more iron and eventually diamonds. That meant torches, and we were trying to be stingy with them, so the deeper we went the more we heard company.
Skeletons, a creeper, and even a few baby zombies showed up down there. The good news about Captive Minecraft is that the mobs outside the border can't reach you until the wall expands, so we spent a while boxing in a creeper and hoping it would stay put. We heard something that sounded a lot like a witch too, which is never the sound you want in a cramped tunnel.
Our First Monument
Back up top, we finally had enough hardened clay to build the thing we came here for. We mixed dye into the clay to make red and yellow blocks and set the first monument, which is what pushes the border outward and unlocks a little more room to breathe.
That first reward is the whole point of the map, so getting it felt like a real milestone. The monument room gets busy with those spectral achievement markers, and we spent a minute figuring out how selecting them works before moving on.
Penning Up the Mooshrooms
Up on the surface we found some mooshrooms, the red mushroom cows, and decided to build a pen before they wandered off. They can't cross the border, which helped, but one stubborn one still gave us a hard time as one of us waved wheat to lure it while the other pushed it in.
Once they were fenced behind a cobblestone wall, we bred them for a steady food supply. We stocked up on stew and bowls, and we knew we would need to kill one of them for an achievement later, so the pen was going to keep paying off.
Saving the Zombie Spawner
For the last stretch we dug toward a mass of zombies we had heard earlier and found what we were hoping for: mossy cobblestone, which means a dungeon and a spawner. We lit the room up, blocked the spawner so nothing could pour out, and cleaned up the zombies already inside.
The chest down there gave us iron, melon seeds, and bones, and we decided to save the spawner rather than destroy it. With the loot packed up, we hauled everything back toward the monument room and called it for the night.
That is a wrap on Episode 3 of Release the B.S. See you next time on Captive Minecraft with Team B.S.
