Episode 9 of Release the B.S. is a mining run that goes deep. We gear up at the base, climb down into the caves, and end up picking our way around lava lakes packed with mobs and ore.
Back at Base, Sorting the Haul
The episode opens back at the underground stone-brick base, where we dig through the chests to see what's on hand. There are gold nuggets stacked up, planks, food, and a rack of tools, with Scoti wandering around nearby.
It's the usual pre-run sort out. Grab what you need, drop what you don't, and top off on torches before heading down. Captive Minecraft only opens up as you complete achievements, so every trip out is about making progress and coming back with something.
Down the Ladders
From the base it's a long climb straight down. The ladder shaft drops floor after floor into the dark, past a painting on the wall, until the stone-brick tunnels give way to raw cave stone.
Torches go in on the way down to keep the shaft lit and safe. It's a bit of a hike, but it's the fastest way back to the mining level without carving a whole new staircase.
Emerald in the Wall
The first real find is a patch of emerald ore sitting right in the tunnel wall, bright green against the gray. We dig it out with an iron pickaxe, which is a nice early score to have in the bag.
Emerald doesn't turn up often, so pulling some out this early sets a good tone for the rest of the dig. Iron and cobblestone keep stacking up in the background the whole time.
Lava, Creepers, and Buckets at the Ready
Then the caves open up into the good stuff. A wide cavern with lava pouring down both sides, and the floor between the lavafalls is crawling with mobs. Creepers and zombies are milling around in the middle of it, lit up by the glow.
This is where the lava tactics come in. Bucket out, watching your step, and picking a path that keeps the lava on one side and the creepers at arm's length. One wrong move near a ledge and it's a swim in the orange, so it's slow and careful from here.
Gold Everywhere
The lava caverns pay off. The walls around the lava are loaded with gold ore, and there's redstone and diamond mixed in for good measure. Scoti gets to work on a gold vein in a torch-lit pocket while we clear out another wall of it.
It's the kind of haul that makes the whole climb down worth it. Careful mining, one block at a time, nobody falling in, and the inventory filling up with gold on the way.
That's the run for episode 9. More Captive Minecraft with Team B.S. is on the way in the next episode of Release the B.S.
