We spend this episode doing a little bit of everything: farming, a Nether run for blaze rods, a fresh brewing stand, and a long dig through the caves under the base. The title fits, because we never stay on one job for very long.
Farmville comes to the base
Scoti kicks things off with a tour. The upper level that used to be the "planet of Endor" is now full-on Farmville, with crops, cows, and a roof built over the plots. The roof does double duty: it keeps snow off the crops and the water underneath keeps them watered.
The one thing that does not go to plan is the chicken. Scoti has a single egg and tries to hatch it right there in the pen. It splats on the ground with nothing to show for it. "That was pathetic," is the verdict, and the farm carries on cow-first.
Into the Nether for blaze rods
The real goal for the day is blaze rods for potions. We head down to the Nether portal with a plan: throw a splash potion once we are inside, then take out as many blazes as we can for blaze powder.
Fighting inside a Captive Minecraft border is its own puzzle. Blazes float, and if one drifts past the edge of the world it is gone for good, so we keep swapping between sword, axe, and even snowballs to knock the blazes back into reach. It is slow going and the rods do not drop fast, but between the two of us we scrape together enough to leave with, plus a magma cream spotted in a nearby chest.
The brewing stand comes to life
Back at the base, we load blaze powder into the brewing stand to power it up. Basket is convinced it will not do anything yet, but it brews an awkward potion the moment it has fuel, and that counts. The achievement pops, and we cross another one off the list.
Ticking through the achievement list
With the brewing stand sorted, we open the achievement screen to see what is left. There is a long line-up: an enchanting table (we still need paper), riding a rail for a full kilometer, a cake (no sugar yet, so Basket's "zero calorie, gluten-free" cake stays a joke), a notch apple that would eat a pile of gold we do not have, and a sniper duel with the arrow guy who only shows up at dusk.
Cave crawl and a very close polar bear
The rest of the episode is a dig. We drop down ladders into dark openings under the base, run into skeletons, and mostly find holes that turn out to be a letdown. Basket handles the chest markers, planting spruce logs and ladders to flag which chests are worth coming back to. Down near the stronghold we turn up clay, a few emeralds, and the question of whether we have the five eyes of ender we need to reach the End. Creepers start slipping in near the freshly expanded border, a reminder that new ground is not safe ground.
The whole time a polar bear keeps getting louder, closer than it has ever been, until it sounds like it is breathing right in our ear.
We call it there. It is daytime, so the sniper duel at dusk is off the table for now. Next time we are heading back into the Nether to hunt ender pearls, since that achievement does not care what time of day it is. That is Episode 11 of Captive Minecraft 4, part of the Release the B.S. series from Team B.S.
