Episode 14 of Release the B.S. is a regroup episode. We crack the map's old journals back open for clues, then take the search underground and straight into the nether.
Back to the Journals
On a tip from John, we decide to reinvest in reading the journal books scattered around the base. We go through them one entry at a time and sort the pile into rows: real hints up top, flavor text in the middle, done-with-it stuff on the bottom. A few entries stick out. Day 70 describes a strange portal so cold the writer's water bucket froze solid just sitting near it, which lines up with the frozen room we already found. The last useful one, day 38, says to head back southeast to escape the place.
That southeast note gets us talking. Maybe the border needs to grow a little more and there's a whole missing biome waiting out that corner. It is the one thread from the journals that feels worth chasing.
Planning the Next Move
With the reading done, we pull up the achievements screen and take stock. There's talk of setting up a pigman farm, hunting for sugarcane and any chests we might have missed, and figuring out the pile of materials the monuments still want: gold blocks, more emeralds (we've got exactly one), and more diamonds than we're holding. One of us floats trying to kill the dragon, but it doesn't work inside a Captive Minecraft border, since you can't place or break blocks while you're boxed in. That one gets shelved.
A Notch Apple and a Loaded Sword
Cracking open the loot turns up a couple of gems: an enchanted golden apple (the "notch apple") and a sword carrying Bane of Arthropods and Knockback. The apple sparks a whole debate. It hands out big buffs, so do we save it or just eat it? Logic goes out the window for a minute. We also spot the Overpowered achievement, the one that wants you to rack up a huge number of kills, and figure the enchanted sword might be exactly how we get there.
Into the Nether
The hunt heads underground through lava-lit caves, where a silverfish spawner gives us a quick scrap before we clear it out. John points out we've already got one of the eggs we'll need for the cake, and it turns out there are more waiting in a chest, so no panic there. We stash the valuables in a chest to keep them safe, then step through the portal into the nether.
Ghasts, Pigmen, and Out-of-Reach Chests
The nether is its usual mess. A ghast starts lobbing fireballs, and the tricky part is dealing with it without accidentally angering the pigmen milling around, so one of us throws up a quick wall to hide behind while we line up the shot. A few chests sit just past the border, still out of reach until we knock out a few more achievements. A dug-out double chest coughs up the usual random haul, potatoes and odds and ends, and there's a pig tucked in a little side room too.
With the border refusing to budge any further, we call it there and plan to pick back up on the surface next time for more searching. Another solid stretch of Captive Minecraft with Team B.S.
