Episode 18 of Release the B.S. sends us out of the snowy home base and straight down into the Nether to see how much of it we can claim.
Setting up before the drop
Before anyone steps through a portal, there is housekeeping to do. Basket runs a lap around the base, topping off the sugarcane farm, sorting chests, and pushing a few crafts through the table so the toolbox is stocked. Scoti is out in the garden too, standing on the plots while we take stock of where the border sits and which achievements are still waiting to be ticked off. On Captive Minecraft every one of those checkmarks is what pushes the wall back, so the to-do list is never just busywork.
Through the portal
With bags packed, Scoti plants himself right in front of the nether portal and the frame glows purple. Down we go. The far side is the usual wall of netherrack and shadow, and the first order of business is simply not getting lost. There is a chest waiting near the landing, a torch or two to mark the way, and a whole lot of red rock in every direction.
Pigmen and lava
The Nether does not stay quiet for long. Zombie pigmen wander in close, and one gets right up in the camera next to a pool of lava. Out comes the iron sword. Between the mobs and the open lava it is careful work, one wrong step from a very short trip, but we keep pushing deeper and keep the pigmen at arm's length.
Mining it out
Once the coast is clear the real job starts. We carve through the netherrack, turn up veins of nether quartz, and crack open the loot chests tucked into the walls. Torches go up as they go, until the whole pocket of the Nether is lit and mapped instead of pitch black. Glowstone, quartz, and a fresh stack of building blocks all make it into the packs.
Hauling it home
When the packs are full it is back through the portal and home to the surface. Soul sand and the rest of the Nether haul get dropped off, a few more things get crafted up, and the base is a little richer than it was at the start. That is one more chunk of the Minecraft world checked off in Release the B.S.
