Episode 21 of Release the B.S. starts deep in the ice, where a hunch about a snowy dig turns into a whole den of polar bears and a real push toward beating the map. Basket and Scoti of Team B.S. are still knocking out the last few achievements on this Captive Minecraft run, and this one comes down to wither skeletons.
A den of polar bears
It opens with a growl and a payoff. One of us has been digging out the stone around a giant igloo of snow, sure something was living inside, and the sound of a polar bear finally settles it. "I'm finally not crazy."
The den holds more than one cub plus two full-grown adults, so we open the top very carefully. Polar bears turn hostile when their babies are close, and nobody here is going to mess with anyone's baby. We poke around for a reward and mostly come up empty. Same ice mountains biome, no new unlock. Still, a room full of bears is a fun way to start an episode.
Down into the cave
Digging around the igloo exposes a cave, and the cave brings the usual Minecraft welcoming committee: skeletons, creepers, and a wall of water. One creeper blows up right where we already knew nothing important was, which is about the best a creeper can do for you. Then it gets warm. There is lava directly overhead, and "it's getting hot in here" turns out to be literal.
Forging a smite sword
Back at base the plan comes together at the enchanting table. We roll a Looting III on an iron sword, then work toward a Smite build with knockback and sharpness for actually killing things. The usual enchanting headaches show up: 52 levels, never quite enough lapis, and a pickaxe that snaps mid-dig because it was chewing through blocks faster than the lapis could keep up. A nearby chest hands over a stack of emeralds and gold, and a new chest appears just outside the border. Two achievements away.
Critical hit on a wither skeleton
The big one is landing a critical hit on a wither skeleton. So we head to the nether-brick spawner, drink a strength potion, and start farming. The first swing as-is does not do it, so we go again with the potion up and the jump timed for the crit. Wither skulls pile up between attempts, along with a few gold nuggets and arrows for good measure.
Two achievements from the finish
By the end the finish line is close. Once the spoiler scroll and one more chest come through, the game is basically beaten. What's really left is grinding emeralds, the only renewable one of the bunch, through sugarcane trades. One of us tangles with a spider on the way out while the other keeps swinging. "Next time, guys. That's when the magic happens."
That's Episode 21 of Release the B.S. See you in the next one.
