Wither Fight: Captive Minecraft 4 Episode 22

  • Published on

The Team B.S. base finally gets its wither. We spawn the thing, survive it, and turn the nether star into a beacon, all on the Captive Minecraft map for Release the B.S.

Shout-outs and a villager door-room tour

Scoti kicks things off by tossing over some leather Basket had been after, then we thank the folks keeping the series going. Philip Clarke gets a special mention for calling us out last episode on the whole pumpkin saga, and we thank the patrons who keep the Team B.S. Minecraft server running.

From there Basket walks through how he builds his secret villager door rooms. Five doors dug straight down, a torch placed so the doors read as valid spawn spaces, and enough of them clustered together to breed the villagers and even start pulling iron golems. It's a quick tutorial tucked into the base tour, the kind of thing that pays off later when the farms are running on their own.

Scoti's off-camera haul

Over in the corner there's a beautiful build going, and Scoti has been busy stocking it. He did a pile of trading and went digging, including a trip back down into the creeper death pit that Basket had made a few episodes back.

The haul is real: four diamonds, a stack of emeralds, iron, gold, and a bunch of blocks. Scoti consolidates everything at the tool smith and starts laying out a pattern for the beacon base, trying to make it look cool even though most of it ends up covered once the beacon goes on top. Basket pitches in with the iron pickaxe to pull the bottom diamonds Scoti can't quite reach.

Building the wither trap

With materials sorted, we turn to the wither. The plan is to spawn it boxed in so it's stuck three blocks high with its heads in the ceiling, which should make it easy to whack down. Basket handles the build while Scoti eyeballs the positions and checks the spacing.

Then comes the important part. One of us remembers at the last second that spawning a wither means an explosion, so we carve out an escape path to back away from the blast before setting it off. Good call, because a wither going off in your face would not be a very Team B.S. moment.

The dumbest wither ever

We light it up and get the achievement for spawning it. The wither doesn't blow the base apart the way we feared, which is a relief, but then the actual fight starts and it turns into chaos. It chases one of us, gets itself stuck, drops into what looks like invincible mode, and our arrows run out mid-battle.

Eventually we wear it down and one of us lands the finish. "You're the dumbest wither ever," one of us says, and the kill earns another achievement. Then it's a scramble to recover all the gear that fell during the fight, including a lever and most of a dropped inventory scattered across the platforms below.

Bacon, I mean beacon

Nether star in hand, we head off for the last beacon pieces: three obsidian and five glass. Grabbing obsidian near the lava gets a little tense, with a couple of "don't dance with the devil" near misses, but we come back intact. A few blocks placed, a "make a bacon" later, and the beacon is done, good for one more achievement.

We wrap by eyeing a chest packed with stuff off in the base, the one we'll crack open next time. That's next on Captive Minecraft with Team B.S.
