We walk into this episode thinking the whole thing might be over. One achievement stands between Team B.S. and a fully beaten map, so this is a scramble to crack the last chests, dig out a mountain of loot, and finally build the beacon that ends Captive Minecraft.
Cleaning up the last chests
The episode opens mid-science experiment. There's a chest boxed in behind a block, and we run through options out loud: shoot TNT at it, shove it with a sticky piston, or just mine straight to it with an efficiency pick. "Let's science the crap out of this."
Poking around leads to a stash they forgot about behind some snow and quartz, and the corner-by-corner achievement hunt turns up a few surprises. One chest Basket opens spawns a guardian instead of loot. "Good job, Basket." Somewhere in the middle of all this we take down a Wither and start wondering if we just beat the game.
One achievement to go
We did not, quite. The last thing standing in the way is the Beaconator, the achievement for building a full beacon pyramid, and a full pyramid eats a huge pile of emerald and gold blocks. So the plan is simple and grindy: Fortune up the picks, dig out every scrap of ore in the base, and turn it into blocks.
That kicks off a long tour of the caves under the map. Silverfish, zombie, and skeleton spawners, veins of iron and coal we somehow never found before, and a fresh mineshaft that opens up once the border grows.
Story time and a haste amulet
The spelunking pays off in odd little ways. One chest coughs up an Amulet of Haste that goes in the off-hand, though nobody's convinced it actually mines any faster. Another hides a torn journal, which means it's time for story time: entry 72, where the writer decides to step through the strange portal before it closes, hoping wherever it leads is warmer than this place.
Between fights we get thoroughly sidetracked, arguing the merits of remaking Labyrinth, trading Little Shop of Horrors memories, and going back and forth about Wicked versus the old Wizard of Oz. Basket even squeezes in his Seinfeld voice. Normal Team B.S. cave chatter.
Emeralds, gold, and one dead witch
Scoti's habit of wandering into rooms we skipped starts turning up the good stuff: chests loaded with emerald and gold blocks, one with 13 emerald blocks and 10 gold, another packed with more. A witch gets in the way and gets dealt with. Fortune-mining a batch of emerald ore lands us a clean stack of 64 emeralds.
From there it's math and trading. We count out exactly how many more blocks the pyramid needs and start hauling pork chops to a villager, fourteen chops per emerald, racing each other to gather the last few.
Beaconator, and the challenge that's next
The final block goes down and the message pops: "You increased the border by achieving Beaconator." Then the big one lands. Congratulations on all 34 Minecraft achievements, a grand total of 91 hours, 57 minutes, and 18 player deaths, with a little extra border space as the reward for completing the map. Fireworks go off across the base.
So is that the finale? Not yet. A new prompt appears offering the Darkness challenge, which you start by placing a torch on the quartz spawn block. We leave it sitting there. "We're going to do the darkness challenge next time."
This was Episode 23 of Release the B.S., the Captive Minecraft 4 series from Team B.S. The map's beaten, but the run isn't over.
