This time on Release the B.S., Team B.S. takes on the Darkness Challenge, and Captive Minecraft answers by turning off the sun and stealing every torch we own.
Dropping into the Darkness Challenge
We start the episode fully kitted, with Basket even squeezing in a fresh bow enchant before we commit. The sign spells out the deal: find and destroy five ender crystals hidden across the overworld, drop our torches onto the quartz spawn block to begin, and brace for ultra mobs once the sun goes out.
We also notice the border has expanded a lot since we last looked, which opens up ground we could never reach before. Torches hit the block, and the world goes black.
The game stole every torch
The lights don't just dim, they vanish. Captive Minecraft yanks every torch out of the entire map, and for a while we're standing in a pitch-dark base wondering whether crafting new torches counts as breaking the challenge and losing. Scoti feels around in the gloom while the mobs start closing in.
Eventually we test it and find out torches do place and stay, so we can fight the dark back one block of light at a time. The catch is that with the surface unlit, every spawner in the world is running at full tilt.
Lighting the base with lava
Before we sort the torches out, someone floats a bigger idea: block up the water chute running down the base and pour lava into it, so a single stream lights up level after level. The first attempt goes sideways when the lava meets water and hardens into obsidian, so it's straight to Plan B and another bucket run.
Preparation, we keep joking, is overrated. We definitely did not prepare for this.
Ultra mobs pull no punches
The ultra mobs are exactly as advertised: faster, stronger, and mean. Creepers detonate the instant you hit them, so the bow-from-a-distance plan matters. A big spider dies and immediately spawns a baby spider on the way out. One mob keeps launching us around with a mega punch bow. What keeps us upright is a stash of regen and strength potions we luckily brought along, plus the extra armor the expanded border finally let us grab.
Fortifying up and calling it
With the base lighting up, we turn to the surface and the farms, sealing the ledges and putting torches back on blocks to shut down the spawns. Basket sums up the night with a Super Mario nod: Team B.S. captive Minecraft is in another castle.
No ender crystals fall this episode. It's a survive-and-set-up run, getting the lights back and the base defensible so the real crystal hunt can start next time. More Release the B.S. and the rest of Captive Minecraft is on the way.
