We are one episode out from the end of our Captive Minecraft run, and we spent this one doing the thing that got us this far: digging. One long mining session, diamonds included, capped off by the biggest cave we hit all series.
Back at base for the last dig
We start where we always do, back at the base built out over the water, and get kitted out for a deep run. Diamond gear is on, the pickaxe has that purple enchant glint, and Haste and Regeneration are ticking away the whole time, so blocks come apart fast and we heal up without stopping.
The border wall is right there beside everything, the way it always is in Captive Minecraft. Every achievement we unlock nudges that wall out a little further, and by Episode 31 we have earned ourselves plenty of room to work in.
A look around up top
Before heading underground we take a quick lap around the surface. It is a snowy patch up here, spruce trees poking out of the white, torches lining the paths, and a row of chests holding everything we have hauled in. A little group of villagers is penned in nearby, with a stray zombie wandering close enough to keep an eye on.
It is a nice reminder of how far the map has opened up since the early episodes, when we were boxed into a single block.
Down in the caves with Scoti
Then it is straight down. Scoti drops in alongside us, and the two of us work the tunnels together, one clearing a wall while the other chases a vein. The caves run deep and branchy, torches going up as we go so nothing sneaks up behind us.
This is Team B.S. doing what it does best in Release the B.S.: two people, one hole in the ground, a lot of stone to get through.
Striking diamonds
The run pays off. We break into a wall packed with diamond ore, a proper cluster of it, and mine the whole lot out with the enchanted pickaxe. Iron, gold, coal, and redstone show up along the way too, so we come out of this stretch with the stockpile in good shape.
Into the lava cavern
The finale is the cave itself. We punch through into a huge open cavern lit up orange with lava, waterfalls off in the distance, and the blue border cutting straight down through the middle of it. It is the kind of drop that makes you stop and just look for a second before you start bridging across.
That wide-open cave is a fitting place to stop for the night. One episode left after this one.
