Underwater Auto Sorting Chest Storage Ring: Team B.S. Server Episode 32

  • Published on

The redstone in the chest ring was leaking from one sorter into the next. Between streams, Basket and johnfal_92 talked it over, and the sorting line got raised one block. This episode is about making the ring look right and getting the water out of it.

Help from off camera

Basket opens by checking the new setup and handing out credit. johnfal_92 did a lot of work off camera: raised the sorter, dropped off water breathing potions and "a bunch of other cool stuff," and, by Basket's guess, placed about three quarters of the chests. Asked about a wood farm, Basket says there isn't one and thinks the trees were just chopped down by hand.

The potions matter. The whole ring sits under the ocean, and Basket keeps running out of air. Each potion lasts eight minutes, which goes fast when "you're in the water the whole time."

The tour

For a viewer who hasn't seen the project, Basket gives a tour: four iron golem farms, four hostile mob farms, and an elevator that carries every drop up to the sorter. Around all of it runs the ring of chests, which Basket admits is "way bigger than we need." Maybe an eighth of the ring will be iron. Once it's done, the plan is to leave this base and only come back for items.

Fixing the corners

The corners are where the rings meet, and Basket doesn't like how they look. The hoppers get snaked back so they're hidden from either side, the way johnfal_92 hid them on the other sections, and furnaces go on top of the hoppers. Basket asks chat whether a corner furnace should sit in or out, picks one, then rebuilds the hoppers underneath to match.

How much glass

Next comes the glass cover, three blocks out from the chests, with sea lanterns standing in as temporary markers. johnfal_92 weighs in from chat: put extra space under the glass "like on the curves," and later, "adding room is better than losing it for redstone." Basket isn't sure why at first and builds only part of one curve to see how it looks.

The question is what to do where an extra furnace pushes the hopper chain out. Basket asks which way johnfal_92 built it; the answer in chat is "I expected you to decide how much glass to use." The extra room wins, since it lets Basket jump between sections without breaking glass. "Okay, I buy your explanation."

The great sanding

The last stretch is getting the water out. Basket fills the space with sand and digs it back out with a shovel, careful not to crack the glass. johnfal_92 warns that this section is close to the water streams that flow into the hole. The hopper hitboxes get in the way, and one leak takes a while to trace.

The redstone underneath is still waiting. Before adding repeaters, Basket wants to settle what the ring will sort and how many sorters it needs, maybe with a section just for different kinds of stone. That's for next time. The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
