The title card reads "Episode 37, Minecraft 1.12," and this is Basket's first real look at the update. The plan is to poke around 1.12 for a while, then get back to the top of the Iron Island item elevator.
The recipe book
The inventory screen has something new beside it: a recipe book with a search bar, tabs and a "show craftable" toggle. Picking up items unlocks more recipes, and a "Check your recipe book" note pops up each time. Basket likes it, with one complaint. It won't work through steps for you, so to make redstone torches from scratch you still have to go make the sticks first.
Achievements are gone too. They're advancements now, and Basket has to earn them all over again. Pulling diamonds out of the treasure chest gets "Diamonds!" right away. "So now it's advancement get."
Dark prismarine in one click
On the way, Basket gives the tour: four iron golem farms at the bottom, four mob farms above, everything carried up the item elevator into chests. The ring sorter's filters still aren't switched on. Basket was waiting on 1.12 for a fix, and now it can be rigged up, but no items are going to it yet.
Then it's through the nether to the guardian farm for prismarine. The recipe book fills the crafting grid with one click, and shift-click makes a whole stack. Basket burns through every ink sac in about "one tenth of the time" it used to take. "That's the coolest thing so far in this entire update." The only rival is renaming a whole stack at once in an anvil.
A disc around the top
The test shape on top of the elevator looked a bit like a ball, and Basket didn't like it. The new idea is a flat disc with the nether portals on it. Then the plan changes again: the water channels stay open overhead, "almost like an aqueduct," and the floor you stand on sits lower.
The disc goes in with sea lanterns, slabs and dark prismarine through the middle. A light blue glass rail will guard the center shaft, which drops all the way to the bottom, and the rest stays open "because I like to keep things a little dangerous." One walkway comes out much skinnier than planned. "If you're afraid of heights, this isn't the place for you."
Obsidian for the portals
Portals need obsidian, and Basket has none. So it's down to the flooded bottom of the farm to pour water on lava and mine what forms, which earns "Ice Bucket Challenge." Four portals at 16 obsidian each means 64.
The frames face the center pillar. Basket swaps the corners for lit blocks, then makes each frame one block taller because it "looks cooler." None are lit yet.
Water on the arc
The recipe book turns lapis and bone meal into light blue dye, and blue glass goes in where the items will surface. Real water will flow only one way so items follow a single path, with fake water on the other sides. Basket runs out of white glass partway through, then pours a test. The water runs all the way down the side to the sorter.
Still to do: an obsidian disc above the walkway, the other arcs, and the sorter's filters. "In terms of getting item sorting nearly functional up here, that's just about ready." The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
