Sanding Water: Team B.S. Server Episode 42.5

  • Published on

Back on Iron Island, and the title says what the job is. Some of it got done off camera: a layer of glass now runs all the way around the chest ring, minus a few small gaps. Basket says the water wouldn't behave when it was meant to pour in over the edge, so now it just runs up to the glass, with blue glass around it. What's left is getting the water out of the middle. "So we're on the home stretch."

Sand in, sand out

The method is slow but it works. Basket drops sand into the water until a section is solid, then digs the sand back out once the water is gone. Torches go down on the floor first, so when the sand above is dug away it falls onto them and pops back out as items. Sponges come up, but this isn't a Guardian farm. "It's not a lot of water we have to get rid of." Sand walls split what's left into sections that get cleared one at a time.

Under the hood

Once the sand runs out, Basket climbs down a ladder (there are no paths yet) to show how the base works. Zombies, skeletons and creepers spawn in the four mob farms, get carried by water and drop, and their items filter into the middle. Iron golems in the four corner farms walk into lava, and the iron falls into hoppers. Everything rides the item elevator up to the top and gets sorted into the chests in the water. "A unique base is what we're after."

The plan from here: Y-shaped platforms in all four directions, running from the nether portals at the top down to the chest level and then further. Under the chest ring the bottom gets filled, with blue glass on the outside and air underneath. In a lot of spots, it'll eventually go straight down to bedrock.

Haste II

Partway through, Basket takes an iron ingot from a chest (there's iron everywhere, thanks to the farms) and sets the beacon to Haste II. "Haste one and haste two, boop." The beacon's beam shows through the glass in the platform. A sign by one chest reads "Scuba Gear, Extended Water Breathing Potions."

Stray water and the sorter

Junk from the cleanup goes into the item hoppers so it filters into the sorter, though a lot of it will end up in the misc chest. A message in chat explains how the sorter's hoppers were set up: filled with named snowballs, with one space left so everything sorts. At one point the chat shows johnfal_92 joining the game and leaving again right away.

Then a surprise: water in a spot Basket thought was finished. "Why is there water right there?" Basket deals with it, but the question never gets an answer. "I wonder why that water block was there."

Last section

The farms keep working the whole time: "mobs and iron golems and stuff are dying and giving me supplies." Near the end Basket takes out one more section, axe for the wood, shovel for the sand, and ends up a level lower than planned. "I'm down here now. Oh well." There's more water in a pocket down there, and then the inventory is full. That's where the stream stops. The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
