Basketopia is still full of cows from the prank last time, and Basket has found a use for them. The library has been waiting on books since it was built, with dirt standing in for every shelf, and books need leather. So this stream starts with a cow hunt and ends with the first real bookshelves going in.
Clearing the cows out of town
Basket thought the cows were finished off the day before, but there are more of them, wandering the halls and rooms of the buildings. "I need leather for my library." Basket works through the buildings room by room, and on the way passes through one of the town's secret doors, clicking a button to close it back up. Cows don't seem to get through the single doors on their own, which helps. The inventory fills with beef, and some of it goes into a chest. Basket circles back for one room in the inn that got missed. "Aha. Got it. All is quiet."
The first fifty
Then it's paper, books and bookshelves at the crafting table. A viewer points out sugar cane in the box by the portal for the paper. The first batch comes to 50 bookshelves, and they go upstairs.
Before they go in, Basket checks the light level. One corner reads seven. "That's not good." A torch there would block a window, so the ideas pile up instead: drop a plank down a slab, put a potted plant in the spot ("people have those in libraries I think"), lights on the railings, maybe a chandelier. The torches stay for now, and the corner goes on the list to revisit. The 50 shelves run out fast. "I'm out of stuff already, that didn't last very long."
A forest for planks
Bookshelves take a lot of wood, so Basket makes an axe and heads to a temporary forest near town that is only there for supplies. Most of the spruce in the nearby builds came from it. Basket chops for a long while and replants saplings afterward.
A viewer suggests trading with villagers if the leather runs out. Basket likes it: the iron farm has left a lot of iron, so trading that for emeralds would probably be the easiest route.
The second round of crafting finds the limit quickly. "Is that all the leather? Wow, that didn't last for long." A lot of the cows are already dead, so breeding up more isn't much of an option. The wood runs short too. Trading may turn out to be the better plan.
Filling the shelves
With a new stack, Basket starts at the top and works down. One corner can't be seen from anywhere, so it stays dirt. "Nobody knows." The ground floor shelves are only four high, short enough that Basket figures a reader could pull up a stool rather than need a ladder.
The secret area sits behind one of these walls. Eventually a button on a bookshelf will open it. The nether portal might move in there, but Basket isn't sure the noise would be welcome in a library. The other idea is a much bigger, multi-floor library hidden underneath this one, which would need a lot more books. Villagers are planned for the librarian's spot too.
A look around Basketopia
For new viewers, Basket explains that this is the main base, neglected for six months or so while the iron farm got finished. The plan hasn't changed: a big castle up the hill, a medieval village with roads running all over, docks and city walls. "It's going to be big and awesome once it's all done in three years."
The new stack is gone too. "I'm out of books now." The library has real shelves on both floors in places and dirt everywhere else, with the dim corner upstairs, the secret door and the space below still to sort out. The credits follow with no gameplay after them.
