Keep Basket: Team B.S. Server Episode 83

  • Published on

Episode 83 opens with Basket back on the server after some time away and trying to remember where things stood. The walk up through the keep at Basket Castle doubles as a review: windows still to come, iron bars for one of them, a bedroom floor with a lower ceiling, and the tower climbing on. Then the floor above that. "This is gonna be larger bedrooms. That's where I left off." Basket is the only player seen in the game.

Walls for the big rooms

The walls go up four and a half blocks high, the same as the floor below. Basket builds them plain and adds the cracked bricks by hand afterward. One room gets a big window and a secret space beside it. The next could be split in two, but that would leave a support beam in an odd spot, so it stays one long room. "It's like an apartment almost, it's so large." Its entrance gets double doors, and a slab marks a possible secret door.

Another room becomes a larger apartment with its own entrance, which might be sectioned off into a bedroom on one side and a living space on the other. Moving its door over by one makes room for a secret door into the corner, probably hidden behind a painting.

Where the keep ends

Basket starts working out where the roof goes. This floor is probably the top of the main keep, with the four corner towers continuing up a little higher. The royal tower may get wider at the top to make room for a big royal bedroom, since the stairs would eat up too much space otherwise. A set of big stairs here will lead up into it.

More rooms follow: a smaller, plainer one with double doors, and another apartment with a little closet. The cracked bricks are not quite random. "I'm targeting them and trying to make it balanced." Eventually the inventory runs out of cracked bricks, so Basket goes back down into the base for more.

A hidden layer

One floor down, Basket sets the ceiling at three blocks high and steps it up where the stairs climb. It takes a lot of birch slabs. Between the two floors, a gap is planned so the secret passages can finally meet. "This is a layer where they're able to merge together." There are four secret ladders so far. To make more room, one plain room with no windows, maybe servants' quarters, loses a block of height, which leaves enough space for a small secret room of its own.

Lowering the roof

Back on the tower, the stairs keep spiraling up in the same pattern. Then Basket notices that a block placed earlier for no real reason was pushing everything higher than it needed to be. With it gone, the stairs come out under that level and the roof can come down instead of going up. "We can not raise the roof, we can lower the roof." The new roof goes in as stone to match the rest, and it lines up with where the ceiling was already planned. "Wow, this is perfect."

At the top of the stairs, a single door leads into the tower and a small window lights the stairwell. Another door will lead out onto the main battlements. Basket also plans for one corner tower to stick out farther than the rest, "more space for the king." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
