Episode 85 picks up on the towers of the keep at Basket Castle. One of them had been built with a different number of blocks per floor, and from the outside that showed. So the plan for today is to take it apart and redo it. "We're demolishing a tower." Basket is the only player seen in the game.
One block lower
The floor that sits too high comes down by one block, and everything above it follows. Windows move, stairs that were in the wrong spot get rebuilt, and the floor is laid back in to match what was there before, "just to avoid having to re-figure it all out again." At the top, the entrance ends up on the wrong side for the new layout. Basket tries stairs, then a slab, then pushes the opening out one more block so upper slabs lead out from it, and puts torches in where the old blocks were.
Two kinds of windows
Then a jump off the top to look at it from outside. The arrow slits line up with each other on each tower, but the two towers use different spacing, on purpose, to see which one looks better. Basket asks the stream for votes. The wider spacing makes a tower feel wide, and the closer spacing makes it feel taller. Basket picks one and goes back up to switch the other tower over.
The slits are also on the inside edge, and they belong on the outside. That means breaking each floor down and building it back up with the stairs flipped so the inside of the tower is wider. After a test of whether it is faster to work from inside the tower ("definitely less efficient"), Basket settles on doing all four sides of a floor at once. Cracked bricks can wait for scaffolding on the outside later. "Oh, it's perfect."
The other towers
The next tower has the same problem, one floor too high, so it drops too. Then Basket copies the finished design onto another tower: walls, a doorway, arrow slits, a ladder up the middle pillar, iron bars in one spot and a spruce door. "So the first two towers I think are done." One tower is only a placeholder for now. It may end up sticking out past the edge, with spots to drop things on anyone below.
The back tower
The back towers sit one block lower than the floor Basket has been working on. Rather than move everything, Basket keeps that floor where it is. The back of the keep is not as defensive as the front. It holds bedrooms and eating areas, and with the keep this skinny the space has to go to other things, so its towers will not match the front ones exactly. Stairs into it get built backward to work out where they go, plus a secret door into the space beside them.
To judge it, Basket pearls out of the keep, runs out of smooth stone and digs through chests below for more, then climbs onto the barracks and walks back for a view from farther away. Some windows look out of place because they follow the rooms inside. From that far off, the ones that do not line up are spaced far enough apart that they seem fine. Getting back in is the hard part. "That is a very well protected hill."
Back inside, finishing that tower would leave it a little higher than the other one. Instead, the sub floor put in earlier may not be worth keeping. "Note to self": next time the floor comes out and drops lower. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
