Keep Basket: Team B.S. Server Episode 87

  • Published on

Episode 87 goes back to the keep at Basket Castle, and to the tower at the back of it. "This tower is the Royal Tower, so this is where all the things live." Smooth stone is already running low, so there is enough to get going and not much more. Basket is the only player seen in the game.

Walls and a secret way in

The walls of the next floor go up first. The entryway gets windows, a spot for secrets that lead down into the secret floor, and the place where the secret tunnel comes up, behind a secret door. The birch inside is a worry: once a ceiling goes in, Basket suspects it will not look right. The birch stairs turn out "not as bad, actually, than what I thought," and some get swapped for slabs. A half slab by the doorway still means a jump to get through it, so Basket stops to test which blocks let you walk straight in. "Let's do some science."

The royal bedroom

Another floor goes in, then one more above it that should be the top. "This is where, like, the main kind of bedroom is for the royalty." The room goes up one more block. A bed belongs right next to the secret door, and instead of the usual painting over a passage, Basket wants something hidden. So Basket lowers part of it a little to make room for redstone: a sticky piston door, with a T flip-flop so it can be opened "from either up here or down there." The stairs run out partway, so three get faked for now, and Basket leaves "something ugly right there just so that I remember that needs to be fixed." One window moves higher, since the bed will sit right against it. A ladder goes in for a way up into the roof space, and the top gets lit so mobs do not spawn and wreck things.

A tour of the tunnels

Before going for supplies, Basket gives a tour. "This entire castle is all about secret tunnels." A painting will be a wall you can walk through. A ladder climbs up through a hidden space and drops all the way to the basement. There are bedroom secret doors, a secret door into the stairs, one into a tower and one into the royal part. Most are not very secret yet, because the doors are not all built. "Lots of secret tunnels is the short version."

Shopping at the iron farm base

Then it is through the Nether to the iron farm base under the ocean. One of the iron farms still bothers Basket because it should be turned 90 degrees, and redoing it is undecided. There is an item elevator up the middle, chests sorted by redstone behind them, a spot where slimes spawn and burn up, and mob farms that push mobs into pits with water. Witches do not always die there. Iron golems walk into lava, and a hopper line from the Nether hub can carry items into storage. Basket says other players helped with some of it, and grabs smooth stone.

Asked about a reset, Basket would rather not. If the map survives Minecraft 1.13, the plan is to push the borders out for new terrain instead.

Windows and roof beams

Back at the keep, the royal tower gets windows on its lower floors so the outside looks better. In one spot glass goes in with a solid block behind it, so "from the outside it's a window" and there is no thin sliver of window showing inside.

Then the roof. Basket goes with an open roof held up by dark oak beams, eight across. Where two beams cross, one has to sit on top, and Basket raises one set by a block because "structurally I think it would work better." "So we've finished the support beams for the roof." The roof itself is for next time. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
