Episode 97 picks up on top of the south east tower, the one that went up from a low outline last time. The top is finished, but Basket isn't sold on it yet. From below it "just sort of blends in" with the wall, so when the tops get redesigned there may be other materials mixed in to outline them better. Today's job is the other direction: down. Basket is the only player in the game; the in-game chat shows only Basket's own lines and server messages.
Below the wall
The tower so far only starts at the top of the castle wall. The main floor there is "where there will be doors at some point," and the harbor sits below. The plan is to carry the windows down "two more floors down probably," unless the tower hits the ground first. Basket has haste and keeps saying so: "I have haste, so I'm trying to be careful." Each new floor gets birch, the same stair pattern as above, torches and arrow slits.
Into the rock
Past the arrow slit floors the tower keeps going, now through dirt and stone. "This tower is going to keep on going down all the way into the rock there," following the shape of the mountain. It's "an awkward hill," so some spots need filling in, and the dug-out stone goes straight back into the walls. A bed on one of the floors skips the night. Lining things up this far down is guesswork, so Basket digs out the outside wall first "just to make it easier to figure out where to go."
The lowest part may become "its own staircase that will go down to something, you know, deep down," maybe linking up to the sewer or other secret stuff later. Partway down Basket tunnels out to check the height against the road. "We're still a little bit higher than needed to be," and a building may go there someday, linked to the tower.
A walkway and more slits
Higher up, the tower meets the edge of the next building, with "a little walkway between the buildings." An odd floor opening becomes an archway instead of a door, and that stretch is high enough above the ground for its own arrow slits, every two blocks on each side. Holes in the floor mark where the slits go on the level below, so the layers stay lined up. "This gives a pretty good defensive position of the harbor that will be over there."
Checking from outside
Out on the ground the new slits are "subtle, but I think that helps quite a bit." Up on the wall the spacing looks off, though: the gaps between slits don't match, five blocks in one place and six in another. Basket rotates a few to the other side of their spot so the gaps match. "That looks a lot better." There will be three layers of slits on the harbor side.
No secrets, no birch
One more floor goes in with the same pattern. Unlike most of Basket's builds, this tower has no secret doors. "That's the secret to this tower, that there are no secrets." An odd leftover block comes out too; it "looks better with that more streamlined one by one." Then the birch runs out. "I think that's all of our birch." Chopping trees for more will have to wait for another day. "That'll be it for today's stream." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
