Basket Castle South East Tower: Team B.S. Server Episode 96

  • Published on

Episode 96 starts with a supply run. Basket heads through the nether to the iron farm, grabs stone from the storage there and fills the shulker boxes, then runs back to Basket Castle. The plan was the back tower, but on the way up Basket changes course: "Oh, actually we also have that tower we can work on." Basket is the only player in the game; the in-game chat shows only Basket's own lines.

Arrow slits first

The tower's outline is already there, a low ring of stone brick with notched corners and torches on top. "It's going to be sort of this shape going up a ways." Cracked stone can come later. What matters first is the "arrow shooty things." Basket tries a slit on each side, then a wider version that gives more range but leaves an archer easier to hit, then a flipped one. "I think having them flip the other way would be too much of an opening." The first layout wins and gets copied all the way up.

One snag: the more stair blocks the walls use, the less of the wall can be cracked later, since stairs don't come in a cracked version. "We're sort of stuck with that."

Birch floors and stairs

Inside, the floors are birch, and the stairs climb in a repeating pattern from floor to floor. The first floor feels "a little bit cramped, but it is just the tower," so Basket goes one level higher than planned. One block where the stairs meet the floor can't be birch, and it stays that way until mixed slabs exist. "We don't have any secret doors in this tower, which is kind of a strange thing." A bed on the floor skips the night more than once. "Let's make it day real quick."

Range or looks

On one floor Basket turns the slits around so they open more on the inside. "This version does give you a little bit more space to be able to aim down there," and from this floor "you have a better view of what will be the harbor." Then it's down to the ground to compare the two from outside. The original looks better there. "Even though the other one you have more range, I think it's better to have it look nice." The test floor gets changed back.

Up to the top

The floors keep going. The birch runs out partway, so Basket finds a few more logs, crafts a new crafting table and makes more stairs. "We're still not as high as that," so "maybe two more floors." The last inside floor gets a solid ceiling instead of a slab, and a flat top goes on above it with crenellations around the edge. "Pretty good view, pretty high."

A look from the village

From down in the village the tower stands tall over the wall, but something is off. "I missed a bunch of the stairs over on that side." A whole floor was skipped, so Basket climbs back up and fills it in. The top still needs a cap, maybe one of the wooden roofs, but not today. The tower will also go further down into the rock later. Night is falling as Basket logs out. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
