Finale, Episode 19: Factorio Season 2

Episode 19 is the last of Season 2, and it is a stream with one goal. "Today, we're hopefully going to beat the season 2." Basket crafts and places the rocket silo, then spends most of the stream chasing the parts it needs, one shortage at a time. A satellite turns out to be missing right at the end. The video closes on the rocket launch and the game's victory screen.

The silo goes down

Since the last episode, new crafting areas went in for rocket control units, speed modules, and red and green chips. Once a train brings steel, the rocket silo is crafted and set down in an open block, with power and modules. Its info panel calls it "Used to build and launch a rocket to win the game."

The silo takes three things, and the commentary names them: low density structures, rocket fuel and rocket control units. The robots bring some in, but no train serves the rocket control unit pickup yet, so a new one is made. Then the rail lines lock up. One train is out of fuel, "which ironically is carrying coal," and everything behind it stops until it gets fuel by hand. An output in the train template also points the wrong way.

Chasing the bottleneck

The commentary checks the silo's progress between fixes: twelve percent, then 28. Each fix uncovers the next shortage. The speed modules wait on red chips, so a private train is set up to carry red chips straight to them, and a requester chest pulls more from the network: "a little bit of a cheat." The red chips wait on copper cable, which gets its own train and a few extra assemblers. Some assemblers are swapped for faster ones.

Then the low density structures are the slow part, and steel is what holds them up. A requester chest asks the network for steel, and Basket carries steel and plastic over by hand.

More low density

New rows of assemblers go in beside the old ones, fed with long handed inserters, splitters and underground belts. The commentary admits the mistake behind all this: "I forgot that after you build the rocket silo that you have to have a bunch of this stuff." At 55 percent, it sounds like "probably no rocket today."

One more part

The belts into the silo keep it fed, and the progress climbs: 96, 98, 99 percent. Then a surprise. The silo needs a rocket payload, and nothing has been made. The crafting menu shows the Satellite's recipe: 100 low density structures, 100 solar panels, 100 accumulators, 5 radars, 100 processing units and 50 rocket fuel. The solar panels and accumulators are pulled out of a power station, and Basket hand crafts the rest. Grenade damage 3 starts in the research box.

The research tree still has a long way to go, and the commentary wonders whether finishing it after winning would still count for the achievement. "But either way, I'm gonna just beat the game."

Launch

The satellite goes into the silo. "Ready? Ready, ready, ready! Three, two, one, go!" The rocket rises out of the silo on a column of flame and climbs off the screen.

The "Game finished" window comes up: "Victory!" Time played reads 102:55:36. The kill list starts with more than 73,000 big biters, and "Tree" shows up twice, which the commentary finds confusing. "So that is season two." The victory window stays up until the video cuts to the end card.
