Episode 14 of The Witness stays up in the treehouses. Basket works along a row of orange panels with suns and squares, each one opening the way to the next, until the last of them lights. Then a yellow box starts something with a timer, and a run across the walkways to a pink panel is not fast enough. The video ends looking for another way.
Puzzle bridges
The video opens on a magenta panel with a line already drawn, as the commentary explains how it was worked out. Then: "So our objective is to try to get to that, and then shoot a laser beam to this thing over there." A walkway leads to an orange panel with black squares, white squares and two white suns. The first lines flash red. Each panel that lights turns orange, with the next one standing just beyond it. "This is the kind of thing where as you go, you're discovering the rules of the puzzle."
Colors join in
Next come panels with magenta and green squares and magenta suns. "The sun needs to have a matching of its color, and you can't have these things together." Partway through, the commentary notes "there's other puzzles I've skipped because I didn't know, like, how these suns and stuff interact."
Up the treehouse
The black and white squares come back, now mixed with more suns. "I'm actually like in a treehouse thing, and so my objective is I'm trying to get to that box there, I think, and activate it. But to do that, I need to solve these puzzle bridges." The commentary puts the rules so far into words: the suns "need to have exactly one more of the same color, whether that's stars or the blobs," and the blobs "can't have mixed colors within the same section." The last panel of the row takes several approaches before "that's valid. Yes! Okay. Whew!"
The run
Past the row sits a white panel set flat on a wooden deck. "Is it an actual puzzle?" An orange line goes onto it, and Basket heads on to a yellow box: "there's a box that I wanted to activate." From there it is a run along the walkways and through the tree houses to a pink panel on a post, beside a white and orange striped walkway. "There's a timer going."
Basket runs the route a second time and is back at the pink panel about a minute later. The commentary gives it up: "it's such a long way to run," and "that's a shame to finish all those puzzles and I can't figure out how to move fast enough to the thing."
Where it ends
Back at the white panel on the deck, a few more lines go in. "What is this for? It's a really odd puzzle." Basket then walks back along the orange walkway: "there's also a puzzle over there. Maybe that's actually the better way to go." The video ends there, the timed run still not made.
