Chest Minecart Dispenser: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 36

  • Published on

This stream runs about 54 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla VOD" and "Chest Minecart Dispenser" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. All of it happens on the Hypermine Vanilla server, under Basket Station, picking up the empty chest cart requester from last time. No other player shows up on screen.

Tidying a rushed job

The last session ran out of time, and Basket admits the end of it got "kind of ugly." So the first job is undoing it. The redstone that ran up and over the top comes out. Now the signal passes through a block with a repeater, and a detector rail moves onto a block instead of sitting where it was. A few pieces that "don't do anything" go, and a powered rail carries the line the rest of the way.

With that done, Basket walks through how it should work. An engine cart fills up, and once its source runs empty it launches. On the way out it hits one detector rail that switches the track and another that drops an item all the way down to storage, asking for a cart. The cart picks up the item, rides up, drops it off and moves on. Because the caboose leaves at the same time and asks for its own cart, two carts should come up, one for the engine and one for the caboose filling station.

For a viewer new to the stream, Basket also heads upstairs to show the main station: "there's 32 destinations, you click the button."

Starting the caboose filling station

The caboose station is new. The first route would run right beside an existing line, and two carts side by side might cause trouble, so Basket moves it to the other side. It also sits a little higher, since a big room is planned below. With no detector rail on hand, Basket says to "just pretend like it's a detector rail" until a few get crafted. How the caboose tokens get loaded is left for later.

The empty chest cart storage below is out of carts, so Basket crafts more and sends them down. One rail on the way turns out to have no power, and a lever fixes it.

The cart that won't leave

The first test with six items does nothing. Too many carts are piled in the loading spot, so Basket clears it down to one. Then the powered rail under that cart won't push it. Basket's guess is that the rail needs a solid block behind it. A test by hand still sends both carts up, the first going straight, but the carts don't stop at the end, and more come up than should.

Breaking the hopper and putting a solid block there proves the guess: "Ok it goes." A viewer suggests tilting the powered rail instead. Basket likes the idea and tries it, but on a slope the cart doesn't stop. So the block stays, the hoppers fill from above, and the comparator and repeater shift to fit. The next test works. The cart stops, fills, and goes once it's empty.

Too many carts

Basket refills the storage, clears the stray carts off the track and runs it again. The request side counts right: eight items go to six, two requests. Two carts come up, one each way. Then more keep coming. Down at the bottom, a chest cart placed by hand picks up an item fine, so the cause stays unclear. The plan is to load a pile of items up top next time, so the trigger runs long enough to watch from below. "We know what to debug next time." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
