Cart Delivery Lines: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 38

  • Published on

This stream runs about 64 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla VOD" and "Cart Delivery Lines" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. It all happens behind Basket Station on the Hypermine Vanilla server, and no other player shows up on screen.

Fixing the bottom platform

Last stream ended with the delivery lines off by two, so Basket starts by moving one of the staircases. The goal for the day is to rig up the engine and the caboose, so that "when you hit the button it'll drop some items down and then two carts will come up," and whatever carts are already there go back.

Most of the work is counting. "One, two, three, four, five." Basket finds that the block taken for the start of the platform is really still part of the slope, so the platform goes one lower. Only the outside edge gets built at first, so there is less to move if the plan changes again.

Water to build down

Below the lines, the freight yard will take up most of the dug-out space, and Basket wants high ceilings there. Two of the lines will hook up to the engine and caboose lines, and the rest will join the freight yard later, though that part isn't figured out yet.

To reach the lower platform, Basket uses the water trick from last time. The water lands in a weird spot at first, and the water updates make everything lag. On the second try Basket outruns it: "I'm too fast for the water."

The caboose line

The topmost line turns out to be the caboose, and it needs the inside track, which is "sort of inconvenient." Basket stair-steps blocks over to it with more water underneath, very carefully, and connects it. Powering it takes levers, and some rails won't switch on until Basket breaks and replaces them to force a block update. "I forgot that they extended onto the platforms too." By about 36 minutes the caboose line is in place.

The engine line

Next comes the engine line's staircase. Basket routes it so the turn passes over another line, then checks whether carts can still get through a tight spot. "Should we science it?" A cart goes through, so it stays. Then it's more levers. "I need so many levers." Along the way Basket notices that "the caboose went to the right spot." After following the engine line all the way down and checking for dark spots, Basket calls it done.

Carts that won't stop

That leaves the old bug: carts arrive at the end of the line and leave again. Basket builds a small test, crafts a new chest minecart and bumps it down the line. "Oh, it didn't stop." The test also sets off the other open problem, with more carts being requested than should be.

A viewer suggests less power, so Basket tries fewer powered rails. It still doesn't stop. Basket thinks the real cause is the direction the stop faces, since the same setup upstairs only worked after it was rotated. A viewer then suggests raising the incoming rail and letting the cart drop onto the stop. "Is this kinda what you had in mind?" Basket builds it, but it isn't working by the end.

Next stream's list: rearrange the stop so it works, check that the two carts go to the right spots, and clear the engine and caboose waiting spots whenever an engine is on its way up. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
