This stream runs about 63 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla VOD" and "Intersection 1" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. The droppers under Basket Station, the big station on the smart rail network, still need a lot of cobblestone. Another player cleared out a pile of it near the iron farm, and Basket has a plan to move it without carrying it.
Cobble by rail
Any chest minecart that reaches the station with cobblestone in it empties into the system. So instead of running back and forth with a full inventory, Basket will load carts at the iron farm and send them down the line. Basket grabs powered rail, redstone and levers, and sets the station so all traffic coming from the iron farm goes into the sorting.
At the iron farm, Basket finds the cobble in a room full of chests, breaks a hole in the wall and lays a loop of track out to an old, partly built line. The first cart gets a test ride with Basket aboard: "I don't think I take fall damage from carts falling, we will find out, science." The ride stops where the track was never finished. "I never finish this project I guess." Basket lays a cobblestone path across the water and more rail.
The next cart makes it all the way. At the station it stops, empties its cobble and heads off to the empty area. "So the proof of concept is good, now we just need to steal the cobble."
Seven at a time
Only cobblestone goes into the carts, since it feeds straight into the sorting and anything else would end up in the wrong place. Basket sends about six loaded carts. A few bunch up in unloaded chunks on the way, "but it kind of resolved itself." There are seven emptying stations, so seven carts is a safe batch.
The emptying is slow. For a moment the droppers look empty and Basket adds buttons, then finds they were filling all along: "that was never a problem, to begin with." While waiting, Basket swaps the blocks on top of exposed hoppers for furnaces to cut down on lag.
Intersection one, take two
The first intersection sits just outside the station. Because the distance was so short, Basket had to slow the train down to make it switch in time, and now it's "too slow and doesn't quite work right." The other intersections showed that the closest hopper works best 13 blocks before the turn. So Basket moves the exit further out, counts thirteen blocks and adds a little extra "because it's also downhill."
A train that turns lands on the wrong side of the road, so a second piece of track switches it back over. An overpass may come later. For now a lever forces every train to loop back into the station. After some flipping back and forth with a torch ("So I lied"), the default is set: trains come back to the station unless they carry a token saying east.
Testing with tokens
At the anvil, Basket renames cobblestone into a "BR intersection one east" token and a caboose token, then loads two chest minecarts with the engine, east and caboose tokens. Both carts go east, and the caboose clears with time to spare: "a little bit longer than it needs to be but that's a reasonable amount of time." A viewer says to test west as well, so Basket crafts more carts. West is the default and needs no token, and the train moves to the right side of the track and arrives at the station. "Yeah, success."
The test tokens got pulled into the sorter, so Basket digs a small path with torches and finds the engine tokens one hopper further in than expected. The plan from here is to keep sending cobble until the droppers are full, then name destinations and test them. Basket is glad the intersection is now "a much better reliable method as opposed to trying to like slow down the cart." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
