This stream runs about 56 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla VOD" and "Intersection 5" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. Intersection 5 is where trains come back in to Basket Station, the big station on the smart rail network. Basket's notes list it as "entering Basket Station, default to Station." Lapis_Lauri and soapthgr8 are on the server at the start, and Kondrik joins near the end.
A quarter of the cobble
Basket moved another batch of cobblestone over before the stream, and it has sorted into the droppers under the station. That's "a little bit less than 1/4" of what the system needs. For a viewer, Basket walks through how it works: you pick a destination, the station drops named cobblestone into the engine cart, and intersections read those tokens to decide which way you go.
Destination one only needs a right turn out of the station and a straight run through the next intersection, so it doesn't need all the cobble it's holding. Later in the stream Basket cuts its slots down from seven items to about three. Breaking those blocks sends a flood of items into a chest that starts to overflow, so Basket puts up a couple of double chests. "I overreacted, everybody."
Flipping intersection one
Out at the tracks, Basket notices a problem with how intersection one was set up last time. It was planned only for trains leaving the station, and now that trains from the other direction will use that track, they'd go the wrong way. So the default gets reversed, the tokens it needs change, and Basket updates the rail notes, which are "just a word doc."
A new way in
Trains used to arrive by two separate ramps. Basket tears that out and builds one ramp that turns straight in, rising two blocks at a time. Torches under the switch blocks set the defaults, and after a check, "any train coming is going to default to going into the station."
A train that ends up on the wrong side of the road needs to cross back, so Basket adds a crossover that's always set to move it over. A train that wants to keep going straight now has to flip two switches, which means the caboose clear may need a longer delay. A repeater line with a torch on the end carries the signal over and keeps the default the right way round.
Registers and repeaters
Basket counts thirteen blocks back from the turn and puts the hoppers on the inclines, with the comparators turned so a wall can cover all the wiring later. Short on building blocks, Basket rides a fast minecart track down to the storage below for smooth stone. It's so quick that Basket thinks it could carry things up and down later.
Underneath, Basket builds a catwalk and wires comparators into droppers. The caboose register gets a loop of nine repeaters, so the tokens clear only after the train is through.
West tokens
At the anvil Basket renames cobblestone into a west token for intersection 5, plus 63 junk blocks and some caboose tokens. The tooltip reads "BR:I5:W."
The first hand test doesn't grab anything. "I have a stray power signal somewhere," Basket says, and after a quick look, "we're good now everybody." A west token flips the track, a caboose token comes through, and after the delay the intersection switches back to the station. "Ta-da."
Used west tokens will drop into a hopper on the wall and be handed to trains leaving in the direction where they're most useful. One direction is done. The other side still needs more digging, and Basket is out of time, so that waits for next episode, along with more cobble and levels for renaming. "We're almost ready to have this functional." The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
