Basket Mall Clean Up: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 70

  • Published on

This stream runs about 59 minutes. It opens on a card reading "Hypermine Vanilla SMP" and "Basket Mall Clean Up" with no episode number, so the number here comes from the playlist. The job is tidying up the outside of the Basket Station mall, with a detour to show off the rail network. Basket is the only player on screen.

Quartz pillars on the picker wall

The first thing to go is the top of the wall above the destination buttons. Basket isn't fond of how the colors sit together, especially the granite right against the lamps, so quartz pillars go in to frame that stretch, with a row of pillar laid sideways across the top. The spruce stays. With the top framed, the granite doesn't bother Basket anymore. Basket asks the chat whether to swap it for polished andesite, then decides it works as it is: "I will keep it the way it is."

Three-tall windows and a granite rim

Next is the far wall, the only one that doesn't reach the top yet. It's a big main area, so its window goes a little higher than its neighbors. Along the side, Basket settles on windows three tall with a pillar every six blocks, counting it out across the wall, and fills them with white stained glass already in storage.

Then the walls go up one more block all the way around, capped in granite to keep the stripe pattern going. That lip is where the arched roof will sit, and it leaves room to hide redstone if a store ever wants recessed lights in its ceiling. Granite runs short, so Basket heads down to the storeroom under the station and finds more. Torches go along the top to keep mobs from spawning.

A test ride that needed a fix

On the way down, Basket stops to show a viewer how the station works and finds it isn't behaving. Pressing the button should send an engine and a caboose up, but cars have bunched up below. "What is this mess?" Basket clears the jam, and on the next try the two cars arrive up top.

The ride itself goes fine. The cart turns out of the station, passes a railroad crossing that senses how long the train is and drops its barriers, goes straight through an intersection, and reaches a small rail station. Heading back, Basket finds way too many carts piled up there. "I don't know why there's so many carts there." The trip home works anyway, and on arrival Basket spots a gap in the wall that still needs filling.

Sketching the roof arc

To finish the stream, Basket starts on the roof. A half circle would be too tall, so Basket looks up an ellipse pattern and goes with one 13 blocks tall and 52 wide. The plan changes along the way: instead of quartz bands, sea lanterns, with about six blocks of glass between each one. A quick test settles whether sea lanterns need Silk Touch. They do. "Science."

Basket builds one curve on wood scaffolding, takes the wood out, and steps back to look.

Arcs every six blocks line up with the pillars on one side, but the windows put in earlier would need shifting to match. That fix is saved for another day. "Now there's no quartz up there, so I don't have to worry about lighting or getting quartz." The glass still needs a lot of sand. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
