Iron Farm Rail Station: Hypermine Vanilla S2 Episode 86

  • Published on

This episode runs about 64 minutes and opens on a card reading "Episode 86" and "Small Rail Station Construction." Basket is back under the new small rail station by the iron farm on the Hypermine server, with the creative copy in the picture-in-picture window. "We're not going to finish it," Basket says, "but we're close." Basket is the only player seen on screen.

The second line

The track that carries new carts to the top was finished last time. Now the second line, the one that connects up to the caboose, runs down to the wall. Basket stair-steps it down and checks it against the creative copy: "Everything lined up perfectly as expected." When a caboose is launched it will hit an activator rail (not built yet) and shoot all the way up. One spot stays unpowered on purpose, because carts drop onto it from above.

Built backwards

Then Basket notices the cart dispenser in the corner went in facing the wrong way, so it comes out and gets rebuilt from the creative copy. It is a clock that keeps running until a tripwire notices enough carts are waiting. The tripwire hook recipe refuses to show up at first. When it finally does, Basket realizes there is no string, so the spot is left open to come back to. A piston pushing toward the ladder side, a hopper chain, a comparator and a repeater on full delay follow ("Why is it so much more complicated?"), and droppers go on the hoppers against lag.

The track from here snakes over to the wall and climbs. A rail can't slope right after a turn, so the climb starts a block later. Basket runs short on powered rail and crafts more. Connecting it up takes a few tries: "Nope, didn't quite work. Should have, but didn't." A redstone update later, it works.

Emptying engines and cabooses

Next is the corner where finished engines and cabooses drop in from above. Each one lands on a block, a hopper pulls its items down into a chest, and once the hopper is empty a piston pushes the cart off so it can work its way back into the empty chest minecart stack. Basket throws in some sticks to show how it works. A viewer asks if this is the third time building the same station, and it is: once in survival while making it up, once in the creative world, and now this one.

The items are meant to ride an item elevator back up, but that needs observers, and observers need quartz.

Shopping in town

The shopping list is quartz, string and dispensers. On the way out, Basket stops up top to show the destination buttons, which light up in sequence, then takes the Nether to town. A viewer asks about a castle there. Basket didn't build it; another player did.

Quartz turns up in the back room of a fish shop. String is harder. A shop in town trades it one for one for andesite, and Basket doesn't want to take from the store, so Basket fetches a stack of andesite from storage and swaps it for a stack of string. "That should be plenty." Basket crafts five bows into five dispensers and, after grabbing some cobblestone, two observers.

Where it stands

The last build is the bottom of the item elevator, by the ladder wall: a run of hoppers with droppers on top against lag, two droppers facing up, a comparator in subtraction mode, repeaters, and the two observers. "This whole mechanism is built and ready to go." The glass shaft that will carry items to the top still needs glass. Basket also adds a guide so carts drop cleanly into the unloader. From there, emptied carts are meant to climb a little spiral into the top of the chest minecart elevator, which isn't built yet.

The second line reaches the wall, still without its activator rail. The rebuilt corner dispenser waits on its string, and the unloader and the bottom of the item elevator are in. "If redstone is your thing, then this build is a good place for it." The stream ends there, and the end card runs to the last frame with no clip after it.
