The Cleric experiment is over. Basket's problem is simple: playing solo keeps going badly, and the potions that were supposed to make Cleric work almost never drop. So this one starts back at the class room, with johnfal_92 along to help, and ends somewhere neither of them meant to be.
Back to Mage
"I never get any potions from the potion thing, so it's like it's useless." John suggests the Warrior as the strongest solo class, and they walk through its abilities. Then John offers something better: "I have a really good mage weapon here that you might want to look at."
It's Hell's Fury, a rare magic wand with Sharpness II, Knockback II, Fire Aspect V and a speed bonus. That settles it. Basket goes over the Mage skills again, including why Frost Nova never worked out: the slow keeps enemies right next to you, and with no way to get away or hit them all at once, they just keep hitting. Basket picks the Mage class again and takes Arcane Strike Level 1. "It is so cheap to change class."
A King's Bounty
Next they talk about where the dungeons might be. One theory: the points of interest that no quest ever sends you to are the real entrances. Before testing that, there's a King's Bounty to claim. Basket talks to the Herald: Nyr has had a report of strange activity in the ruined mansion near the Blackroot Battlefield, and opening a special unmarked chest there pays the bounty to everyone in the area.
There's a shortcut near a hut they used before, and the mansion should be down below it.
Creepers from somewhere
They drop combat beds, get an "area discovered" message, and go in. It goes bad fast. There is heavy lag on the server ("it's not just your internet"), a hidden spawner in the floor, and creepers that keep coming out of a back room. Zombies help for a minute by fighting the skeletons. One of them traps a pack of mobs in water to get a moment to heal.
Then one creeper blows a hole in the wall and everything pours in. John dies with all their gear in that back room, and the next stretch is a recovery mission: a borrowed pickaxe, a path dug around the creepers, and the shield back first, "the most important thing." Another player on the roof is trying to help, but they're pretty sure that's waking up more spawners. John goes down again in chat to a Phantom Warrior.
Up through the roof
The spawners turn out to be above them, so mobs drop in from the ceiling. Boots get handed around, the building's respawn timer shows about 15 minutes, and they head up the vines to the attic. Up there the spawners turn up, someone jumps down by mistake ("bad, bad decision"), and by the end John has lost 30 levels. Basket gets through the whole episode without a death and finishes several levels higher.
Wrong building
They've opened the chests and found no special one, which is suspicious. Then the name sinks in. "This is no, this is Lowland Temple." The ruined mansion is still out there, and the bounty is still open.
