Orange Wool (Not) Solo, Part 3: Monumenta Episode 48

  • Published on

"Welcome back to the solo run, not really solo run, with John and Basket." johnfal_92's nameplate is on screen from the first shot, and there's a trap right at the door. The tip: break the tripwire hooks with shears and it doesn't go off.

Blaze spawner first

They looked at this room last time. The plan now is simple: kill the blaze spawner first. They split up, one going left and one right ("I pick the easy side." "Good choice."). The blaze spawner goes down, then a creeper spawner, with skeletons and melee mobs in the back. Torches go up as they push in.

Up the water streams

The way up is the water stream, not ladders, at least until the level is cleared. Water gives them "a fighting chance" against the mobs. "Unfortunately, my main combat thing is I'm a fire mage," one of them says.

Getting up is "one of the hardest little mechanical things to do." Skeletons keep shooting them out of the stream, a poison spider turns up, and there's a "Failed again" before the spawner at the top is lit and broken. They make a halfway point on the way. Two more spawners go down in the back, the snipers up top start killing each other, and a chest turns up.

Cursed armor

The next stream is easier to climb, "thank goodness, not like that last one." The armor isn't. Two Warlock pieces are worn, and with curse of binding they block putting on anything better. Since they can't be repaired, they have to go. A pair of pants breaks and new ones go on. "Not that you need that play-by-play." "It's definitely helpful."

Straight for the button

They build ladders up just in case, toss extra blocks on a junk pile, and pick a route: turn right, hug the right wall and go straight for the button, skipping most of the level. Chests can wait. It's "super dangerous at first." Big creepers, a pack of mobs from spawners and witches in the corner all come at them, and the arrow count drops to 44. "That should be enough for our little adventure here."

Past that is a pit of death full of spiders. The advice is to stay high and right up against the wall. Two spawners above a chest go down, and they light the hallway ahead because mobs spawn behind them otherwise. Someone runs out of coal and borrows some.

Door Key #2

The button room has its spawners stacked on the left, and a Stackaboom on top. Creepers spawn up there and a big guy comes from behind. Then the button gets shot, and chat lights up: Door Key #2 has been activated, and The Final Stand is now open. "Oh, nice shot."

There's a chest right there, and a double chest in a room back the way they came. "There's lots of good chests in here." They can always come back. In case they run out of time, though, they head for the last room first, and the episode ends on the way there.
