BasketMC

Orange Wool (Not) Solo, Part 4: Monumenta Episode 49

  • Published on

The "solo" run reaches its last stretch. Basket opens with "the Solo Not Solo instance run" with johnfal_92, and they are on to the final section of the orange wool dungeon. The Invoker spawner in here is already gone. The catch is the dark. They lit up every corner of the first area, and this part has none of that.

Spawners in the trees

The room is a jungle full of creepers, single ones and double ones, plus blazes in the middle. A Stackaboom shows up early. The plan for those is to let them get close and scary, then take out both halves with a volley.

The mobs keep coming from places nobody can see at first. The answer turns out to be the trees: there's a spawner up in one on the left and another on the right, and what looks like a skeleton spawner in a third. A cultist waits outside a cage up ahead. They decide to leave the dark edges alone for now.

Even after the spawners they know about are broken, mobs keep turning up. "There's still, like, they're still coming from somewhere." So there are probably a few hidden ones. Somebody gets nipped at the heels, it's another Stackaboom, and both of them end up on fire.

Full bags

With the spawners down, the question is how to handle the stuff below. One suggestion is to run out of the dungeon and come back. The real reason to leave is simpler: their bags are full of loot from these chests, so they head back to empty them.

Two hearts

Back inside, they split up, one going left and one going right through a fire room full of blazes. Fire resistance helps, though one of them stands in a fire without noticing because regeneration hides the damage. One spawner goes down, then the two in the center. Someone is down to two hearts by the end.

There's one more scare. "Look out, Basket," and Basket blocks, but loses the helmet anyway. The chestplate is close to breaking, and since it's a good rare, it comes off before it can break.

Done, again

Then it's over. "Congratulations! You have defeated the Orange Wool Dungeon!" fills the screen, and chat shows both BasketMC and johnfal_92 beating it. Basket already cleared this dungeon back in Episode 39, so the server points out there's no extra skill point this time. "I knew that."

The reward chests still pay. Basket's rare is a sword, Wildthrasher, with Sharpness II, Unbreaking III and Fire Aspect I.

A second rare turns up too: the Cultist's Robe, Protection I and Mending with a Curse of Binding, plus 10% attack speed. "Kind of nice." Two rares is a good haul. The other big find is a Bone Piercer, a bow called out as Power I, Punch I and Flame I, and whoever got it says it was the only thing they really wanted out of this dungeon.

A lot of gear needs repairs now. The orange wool run, solo and not, is finished.
