Village Well: Ragecraft 3 Episode 8

  • Published on

A pickaxe breaks in the first minute. "Great start to the episode." Basket and Scoti pick up in the village with the death counter at 1 for Scoti and 0 for Basket, and it holds all episode. They clear the market square around the well, run a load of loot home, and then climb the big stairs to a library that fights back.

The market square

They've already done the blacksmith, so what's left down here is the stalls and a clock tower. There's a cart loaded with pumpkins and melons and a coal block nearby. Spawners are everywhere. One of them finds a skeleton spawner up high in the tower and decides to leave it alone on purpose: it's high enough that it could make a decent skeleton grinder later, with the drops falling on their own.

There's an emerald in one of the stalls and a spider spawner on top of the well. "Burn baby burn, Basket inferno." One of them hands the other some magic boots. And there's a chest inside the well, "obviously." A Corrupted Child turns up, someone jumps down onto a creeper, and the chests give up saplings, a spider eye and an Efficiency II wood axe.

Dalron's Magic Wand

The best find is in a chest on Basket's screen: Dalron's Magic Wand, an uncommon item with Sharpness II, Knockback II and Fire Aspect III. "It's not as sharp as anything else, but it has a bunch of fire aspect." Mobs it hits catch fire, and Basket keeps it in hand for the rest of the episode.

A Corrupted Townsman sneaks up from somewhere, and they can't work out where it spawned. Their inventories are full, the emerald needs a safe place, and one of them has no pants. They sort gear, swap leather, bread and coal, and run everything down to the base.

Up the stairs

Back in the village, they take the big stairs up to the next level. A creeper waits at the top. One of them gets shot while not wearing a helmet. There's a dark building to the right with no easy way in, so one of them breaks through a window. It says so on the front: it's the library.

Spiders, creepers and silverfish come out of it. "Silverfish, do not call out to your friends." They called out to their friends. One of them remembers that, about six episodes ago, they thought this map was going to be easier. Lighting things up cuts down where mobs can spawn, so it gets harder as they go but safer behind them.

Inside the library

They go around the long way to avoid a pinch point, and it still goes wrong fast. "Not good, not good, not good." One of them kills the spawner inside, they close the doors, and one more silverfish turns up, maybe from the floor above. Once they're healed up, one of them blocks a doorway so nothing gets out. A skeleton spawner sits around a corner they can't reach.

So they break another window and push torches in, and the mobs inside start fighting each other. There's a chest just inside that one of them could reach into, and that player decides to run in for it. The other asks if that wouldn't be better saved for next time, and that's where the episode ends.
