Ghast Lava Hill: Ragecraft 3 Episode 71

  • Published on

"We don't have good gear. Basket has no pants." That's how the episode opens, and the question that follows answers itself: has Team B.S. ever run away screaming just because they didn't have gear? "Yeah, the answer is yes." Basket's gear is fine apart from the missing pants. The death counter opens at Scoti 52, Basket 41.

Spawners in the lava

The first chest gives up a helmet, a fire resistance potion, an Efficiency II iron pick and "another knockback club." Basket's hotbar also holds a Molten Sword, and the tooltip lists Sharpness V, Knockback I, Fire Aspect I and Unbreaking III.

The cavern is all netherrack, rails and lava. They knock out spawners as they go ("blaze spawner down," "I took out three spawners") while a skeleton with a fire bow shoots from the lava. Then they spot the thing that gives the episode its name: a ghast spawner.

A ghast floats beside a hill of lava over a minecart track in the red netherrack cavern

One of them jumps over a ghast's fireball. "It was pretty sweet. At least I felt like I did." Some of the spawners turn out to sit on minecart chests. "There's lava everywhere, dude." "I'm trying to not be in it!"

One each

Near a water and fire trap things go wrong fast, and the chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was blown up by Creeper". Basket keeps fighting, and the next named mob shows up right away.

Basket swings the Molten Sword at a burning mob with the name tag "Flamefury Archer" among the rails

After the respawn, one of them is back at base and offers something "cool from back home." Not pants, apparently. "I'm gonna bring you some purple pants." There's also talk of a good fortune pick in a chest at "the end of the rail," which takes a while to describe.

Then a creeper turns up ("holy creeper"), the call goes out to retreat, and it doesn't work.

Some of Basket's stuff gets picked back up. "Some of it got blowed up." What's left ends up in a chest.

The Mount Cinis portal

Deeper in there's a big building that "looks like a steam facility or something," with decoration that looks a lot like stairs. "Oh yeah, these be stairs." Past it is a house that's glassed in, and inside it is a portal. "It is the Mount Cinis portal." They go through, repair a helmet, and resupply.

Water mining

Back in, they head for the big mountain but decide to check the path they skipped first. Someone has made a bucket of water. The theory is that once the lava the spawners hide in is watered, they stop killing people.

Scoti stands on a field of obsidian where water has covered the lava

It mostly works. "I just put my water down in one block. That's not water mining." Skeletons are stuck under the new obsidian, and it turns out they're suffocating rather than burning. "So you're telling me skeletons don't breathe lava."

The emerald they remember is in a different chest. The one they open has "nothing but a zombie." They pack up what they found to take back to base. The counter closes at Scoti 53, Basket 42. The monument isn't shown, so it stays at 7 of 16 crystals and 4 of 12 emerald blocks.
