Traveller's Respite: Uncharted Territory 3 Episode 20

  • Published on

For once, nothing is trying to kill them. Traveller's Respite is a rest stop Amlup built into the map, and this short episode, about 15 minutes, is a tour of it. Scoti's intro says they found it "just before the magenta wool." The death counter reads Basket 37, Scoti 23 at the start and still reads that at the end.

A jungle with a note in it

The way in has chiseled stone behind the signs, a block you can't craft in this version of Minecraft. "In case we're wanting to decorate our base, we can remember that." There's redstone up top, saved for a Fortune pick. Then a render glitch hits, the F3 shortcut won't cooperate, and the recording stops until the world loads properly again.

Past that is a jungle room with grass, mushrooms, water and trees. One chest holds an Azarian Trading Gem and a written book. Someone eats first, "just in case this is an exploding book," and then reads it out. It's from a lumberjack named Dave whose crew was "forced out of the Grove" by the Azarians: "We literally spent three weeks setting up this top-of-the-range lumber cultivator platform and it's already time to leave." Another chest has an Efficiency and Unbreaking wooden axe, and these are the "choice trees" to chop.

Spawners that help

There's a row of spawners up on a glass platform. The guess is potion effects, not mobs, and the guess is right. Walking past gives Speed, and Regeneration shows up on screen too. "This is definitely our new base."

Nearby is the Wool Monument: glass slots for every wool, plus three more signs for an iron block, a gold block and a diamond block. They haven't seen any of those three yet.

Beside it sits the Amlupian Monument Supply Chest, full of cakes and C418 music discs, with a jukebox next to it.

A farming kit and the rules

There's a fenced farm with water and a farming kit. "We haven't had any seeds yet," so that's new. There's no bed anywhere they look, though they guess where one would go.

By an ender chest, a framed book is labeled Additional Rules Reminder. They read it out. Villagers may be bred and purified, but emeralds from them are for cosmetics and trading only. Ender chests can't be picked up, placed, crafted, broken or moved. The map ceiling still counts as leaving the map. And you may disable clouds: "It's recommended."

The chests in the next room are labeled Lacerator Level 2 and Combat Gear (Low). Around them they turn up name tags, a wolf spawn egg, a lead, red and white carpet, and an anvil. "That's sweet." Another sign congratulates them: "You have obtained one hollowed-out room." That gets a laugh.

Walk it, don't ride it

Down a ladder there's a minecart line, and a sign for a shortcut that "takes us back to our house." One of them won't ride it. "There's a good chance that this will dump you in the lava." Maps like this have done it before, so they walk the whole track first. The other isn't impressed: "You're not a very trusting person tonight."

The track comes out right by their own base. They had nearly dug into it while expanding. "If I would have expanded this a little bit more, you would have accidentally found it." Scoti wraps it up: they're moving the base here, and the wool goes into the monument on camera, first thing next episode.
