Mycelium Mines Part 3: Uncharted Territory 3 Episode 25

  • Published on

Scoti opens this one with a plug for Basket's solo Episode 24.5, where Basket built a couple of grinders to get them some gear. They need it. The death counter starts at Basket 42, Scoti 24, and by the end it reads Basket 42, Scoti 25.

The continuity chest

Scoti asks Basket to walk through the continuity chest. The mobs from the grinder dropped a pile of Azarian gems. The fireworks came out of a couple of chests. Basket traded a lot of rotten flesh for steak and mined half the coal in the Scorched Underpass. There's an Unbreaking book waiting to go on a pair of diamond boots, a "looting, sharpness three thing," and two good bows. They agree to keep the bows back "because they might come in handy if we have to fight a wither or something." Villager trades filled the rest with swords and chestplates.

The death chest has been upgraded too, so now there's a full set of gear. "We're done dying now." They reset their spawn at the second intersection, and then remember they never looked for the secret in that room. Amlup's sign said there wasn't one. "He lied." The chest underneath holds two Azarian gems, two splash potions of Night Vision and a couple of Unbreaking items. One of them nearly drowns getting back out.

Back to the hallway

The monsters are already spawning when they get back, and a room full of arrows looks like "a death trap." More mobs pour out of a side room, so they block it in. Past that is a sign pointing to the lower mining area, with coal deposits and an "unknown shrine."

First they clear the rooms nearby. There's a kitchen with cake on the table, a cauldron, and a switch nobody trusts. A chest gives up water bottles (no way to brew yet, but good for trading), coal, potatoes and fish, and a lit furnace has blaze rods in it. One room turns up Blast Protection, Thorns and something with Power I and Flame I. A piece of gravel on the floor gives away a zombie spawner buried underneath.

The lower mines

Down below, the mushroom mobs still have Thorns. "I still don't understand how they made thorns work on arrows." Someone's been using a Punch bow and explains it: "In this map, having things go away from me was a very good idea." They dig out buried spawners as they go. Unless a spawner has something unique, they don't want it, and "not these stupid mushroom guys."

At the bottom, across the cave, they spot it. "I bet that's the unknown shrine. It looks like a fleecy box." Getting there is another story. Mobs come from the vines and the giant mushrooms, and then cave spiders show up. One of them gets poisoned down to one and a half hearts and talks about buying antidote potions from the traders. They break a cave spider spawner, but a mushroom spawner is still going somewhere. A sword breaks, and the arrows run low.

The run for the box

So they try a run: get to the fleecy box and block themselves in. There's soul sand inside. "Clever." Then the chat reads "Scoti_Garbidis was shot by Skeleton." With the box in sight but not cleared, they call it there. "This is a good time. Take a break."
