Unholy Marshlands Part 1: Uncharted Territory 3 Episode 27

  • Published on

Yellow wool goes on the monument, and then it's on to lime wool and a new level, the Unholy Marshlands. Nobody dies this time, though it gets close more than once. The death counter reads Basket 42, Scoti 25 from start to finish.

Yellow wool

Scoti hands the honor over: "Basket, this one is yours." Basket sets the yellow wool in its slot next to white, orange, magenta and light blue, and it gets a torch like the rest. Then they take their stuff to the forward base and head out to intersection two for the next color.

Cursed marshes

Lime wool should be straight ahead, down a mossy bridge to the Unholy Marshlands. The sign at the door reads: "These marshes are cursed. Azarian magic holds no power here. Caution all who enter." The first chest has a golden apple and splash Poison Antidote. The tooltip lists Poison III, a few seconds of Regeneration, and "Removes weaker poison effects!" They grab a stack, guessing it works like milk. The catch, they work out later: "First it poisons you."

Vines and trees

Inside it's dark, with walls of clay and soul sand underfoot. Zombies spawn up in the trees and drop down, skeletons shoot from the branches, and the vines keep catching them. "Stupid vines! I hate them!" A plan to cut down a tree and pillar up the middle falls apart fast. "I aborted that mission real fast." One of them asks who decided they were playing on Hard and wishes levels got easier as they went. "We should have started at the end."

They do get up onto a dirt ledge. It has pumpkins and a skeleton spawner, which gets broken. Item frames hold netherrack, and a lapis block across the way looks like a sign of good loot.

Cave spiders

A waterfall has spawners along it, and one of them turns out to be cave spiders. One sword is about to break and there are no spares. A fight at close quarters ends with a nursery rhyme, "ashes, ashes, the Scoti falls down," but the counter never moves. Then it's "Eat, Scoti, eat," and time to make more swords.

Weird brews

The chests past the spawner room are all about water. There's an Aqua Affinity book, and potions called Essence of Squid with Water Breathing, Night Vision and Weakness. "I think we gotta go underwater." Another chest has golden helmets, one with Respiration IV, Aqua Affinity I and Unbreaking I.

A large chest full of rotten flesh and spider eyes also holds a Smite V book, a Flame I book, a bow and an iron sword. The strangest find is the Cursed Brew: Strength II, Instant Damage, Resistance and Blindness. "Sometimes I think Amlup gets excited about making weird brews."

Up the water

The way on is up the water, through a creeper and then a zombie. Up top there's a skeleton in armor, a conga line of baby zombies, endermen to avoid looking at, and more soul sand, which they agree is everywhere in this map. A creeper hiding behind a waterfall nearly gets one of them. They reach the high ground, spot more lapis and an angry enderman, and decide this is a good place to stop.
