The episode picks up right after last time's big idea went wrong. "It was a great idea until the very end. I should have pillared up." The counter reads Basket 47, Scoti 44, and the "awesome sword" is lying at the bottom of a cave full of webs and spawners.
Back for the sword
Basket runs all the way back to the start of the level so the swarm down there will despawn. It half works. The cave is quiet for a minute, then the spiders start again. "This thing is just full again. There's more spawners."
Then Scoti's game starts lagging, down to about five frames a second, stuck in place in the webs. "I can't move. I'm gonna die." The chat line follows: Scoti_Garbidis was slain by Spider. Somehow the sword ends up back in Scoti's inventory anyway, but most of the armor doesn't.
Stuck every second
The second push goes in "naked," and it's slow. Everyone gets caught in webs. Someone falls in a hole and needs water to get out. Spawners go down one at a time, and a stone sword and "one good iron" get passed over from a death chest.
They talk about pillaring straight up the middle toward what they spotted last time, then decide the side paths that circle around are the better bet. The Bane of Arthropods sword turns out to be only level III, which explains why the spiders take so long to die.
Tied, then not
Around the fourteen minute mark it falls apart for Scoti. A spider gets one. "Good news is, one more and we're tied." Then, running back in a hurry, Scoti tries to jump a corner at the intersection and lands in lava. "Oh, man. 47."
The excuse: "I was looking down, trying to avoid seeing stuff as it loads in. Definitely wasn't my fault. Okay, maybe it was my fault."
The walk back turns into a song. "Trying to find my way through these spider webs, trying to find BasketMC, he's got all my stuff." Basket points out that isn't true.
Pants and arrows
The gear pile is short a few things. The "fancy pants" are gone, a helmet is nearly broken, and there's no spare armor along. A chest nearby has replacements, including an iron chestplate with Protection IV and Thorns II. One of them has an infinity bow, so the stacks of arrows they keep picking up are just dead weight. A spider grinder for XP comes up as an idea. There are endermen up here too.
They push farther and break more spawners. Then a pack of spiders catches Scoti with no splash potion, and it's death number four. "I hate this. I'm just gonna say that right now."
A new leader
Scoti tries out a fresh way to look at it: with more deaths, Scoti has obviously achieved more in the game. Basket goes along with it. "Good on you. Finally your deaths represent your superiorness."
They sign off with the numbers. Scoti Garbidis, 48 deaths. BasketMC, 47. "The spiders suck." The fleecy box is still up there somewhere.
