Day two of Michael Deering's December 2013 challenge picks up underground, with Team MaBaLoSco handing out pork chops before anyone goes up the ladder. Outside there's a skeleton under a tree, a creeper and a couple of zombies. Scoti_Garbidis earns Monster Hunter in the chat in the first minute, and the team gets some chickens penned up near the hole.
What's the plan for today?
"Okay, so what's the plan for today?" More trees, more cobble, and an argument over an iron axe that ends with stone ("you would save the iron for armor"). The saplings get planted around the base, and then the team splits up to look for food. "I'm staying in the savanna. I'm not gonna leave this biome." "A lot of sheep! We need some cows!" lostinthefort earns Time to Farm in the chat, the server starts to lag, and someone reports an ocean to the north with lava on the beach.
Thirty-five raw beef
Basket finds a lake with cows around it. "Save them for breeding," someone says, and someone else points out that by the time a calf grows up, the day will be over. Basket goes through the herd with a stone sword, and through a few pigs too, and the beef count in the hotbar climbs. Back at base it's announced: "Thirty-five raw beef. Nice. We're set for a while."
A wall at sunset
The sun is going down when Basket gets back to the dirt tower over the hole. The crops are outside now on a bigger plot, and Max_Writer and Scoti_Garbidis are out by a new low cobblestone wall. "I don't have enough to complete the circle." Morale is mixed. "There's four of us and we're doing worse than we ever did." "I don't think we're doing worse. I've got some wood. Whoops, I just dropped all of it. Yeah, okay, you're right. We're doing worse."
Iron hats and a cave full of zombies
Down at the chest there's 27 iron. "I can make us all hats. We'd have seven left over." Basket earns Time to Strike, and the team heads into the caves for the night. Someone spots lava hanging overhead: "That thing updates and you're taking a lava shower, dude." Monster Hunter pops up in the chat for BasketMC. Then comes a call for help and a report of a spawner, "I think it's a zombie spawner," and the zombies come up the tunnel two at a time. Basket meets them with a stone sword.
The spawner and the chest
Around the corner it turns out to be something else. "Oh, it's a spider spawner. I was wrong." A spider comes off the cage, the room gets torched up, and Basket opens the chest beside it. Inside are music discs and Diamond Horse Armor. "We sure got a lot of thirteens." Somebody claims the horse armor on the spot.
Sunup, still underground
The rest of the night goes to lighting dark corners and blocking off side passages. "I broke my pick. I got nothing to make another one," someone says, and a little later, "Sun's coming up, guys. It's the end of the day." Basket is still in the caves, alive, when the episode ends, and no death shows on screen. The end card follows, with nothing after it.
