Day six of Michael Deering's December 2013 challenge picks up where day five left off: Basket underground with the diamond pickaxe, looking for redstone. "I see redstone. I just can't get to it." The team's advice comes over voice. "Don't get yourself killed." "And by don't get yourself killed, get the redstone."
Bread up top, a zombie down below
Up at the base, chat shows lostinthefort earning the Bake Bread achievement ("He made bread"), and someone reports three chickens. Down in the caves, a zombie steps out of a corner at Basket, and Basket meets it with a stone sword. "All of a sudden a zombie came out of nowhere with an iron sword."
Redstone in the walls
The caves are full of lava pools, and Basket keeps the water bucket handy to cover them and cross. The redstone ore turns up in the walls, and a vein of diamond ore turns up too. Basket's count by then: "I have 19 redstone so far. And six diamonds." Not much, but the team doesn't need a ton for the plan, a redstone clock built with a hopper plus a few lights. A little later the tally reaches 32. "I feel like I can make that do."
An enchanting table
Back in the underground room, the redstone goes into a chest ("with the raw chicken"), and Basket crafts an enchantment table from two diamonds, obsidian and a book. "We could make an enchanting table just for our own defense, honestly." Basket enchants the diamond pickaxe and an iron sword, then crafts iron leggings, which drew a warning first: "Don't use 50 iron for a pair of pants." The leggings come out with Protection I.
A bar in the sandstone building
The sandstone building talked about on day five now stands, with a red roof and arched windows, and the team is fitting out the inside. Someone has hardened clay, and the plan becomes a bar: "Leave a little bit open here and then put like a trapdoor at the end here, so it looks like it's got a little area for the bartender to get in." Item frames and bottles are meant to stock the shelf behind it. Meanwhile Basket goes out past the wall in the dark, enchanted sword in hand, to hunt for bones. "I'm invincible now, I'm enchanted." "Be cool, baby. Be cool."
Holes for the lamps
Basket shears sheep for wool and crafts paintings. Inside, rows of square holes sit in the sandstone floor. "That's where the glowstone lamps are gonna go." The idea of trimming them in quartz runs into a shortage, since there are only 18 quartz, so quartz half slabs come up instead.
Back to the Nether at sunup
"We're about to have to call this. Sun's coming up in the east." Nobody can see the sun ("Is it raining again?"), and the call stands: "The sun has to be up." Basket leaves the shears behind to "get some more quartz," climbs down past the chests, and steps through the portal with the diamond pickaxe. In the last seconds a zombie pigman walks up the netherrack tunnel toward Basket, and the end card takes over. No one dies on screen.
