Episode 13 of Kill the Dragon, Michael Deering's December 2016 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge, opens back at the village farm with the same problem as last time. "These guys are not breeding." Basket still needs ender pearls and still doesn't have the sugar cane to trade for them, so some of it goes in the ground by the water. "If I plant this, then in theory it might kind of grow."
A different trade
The endermen haven't been much help. "So far, I think I've killed, like, six endermen, maybe five, and I've gotten one ender pearl. So that route's not really going to work out too well." Basket looks at a different trade instead. "I can trade with the leather dude. Maybe that will help." The Leatherworker's window asks for 11 leather for an emerald, and Basket is carrying 8. So it's off across the plains to find cows.
The long walk for cows
The plains turn up sheep, chickens and pigs, and very few cows. Basket kills a few chickens anyway, since "it'll be good trading stuff," and grabs some sugar cane by the water. "Oh, sugarcane. Here we go." Farther out, the landscape stops looking familiar. "I'm lost. I mean, I know how to get back, but I thought that this direction was towards the other village." It's almost dark when the cows finally show up on a hillside full of flowers. "Oh, there's cows."
One emerald
Back in the village at night, the pair are still on their own. "You guys haven't made a baby? All right, we're going to trade this guy leather." The trade goes through, and the Leatherworker's next offer is an enchanted leather tunic for 12 emeralds. "So I can buy really expensive leather stuff." Then the iron axe breaks. The rest of the sugar cane goes into the ground with torches beside it, because "sugarcane needs light to grow." Basket doesn't expect babies tonight anyway. "I think during the night they don't breed."
Night at the farm
The farm gets busy after dark. A skeleton turns up with a glowing bow. "Oh, you have a magical bow? Oh, and you're super fast? You cheat." A creeper slips into a corner nearby and blows a hole beside the farm. "I wanted this area to be as is." Then an enderman walks right up to the cobblestone. Basket kills it, and the only thing left behind is experience. "True to form, no ender pearls."
Bows and an anvil
Inside, the inventory is full of feathers, flint and raw meat, so Basket builds a second chest. Then it's over to the enchanting table to see what a bow can get. The book offers Projectile Protection, which Basket isn't impressed by, and the bow takes a Power enchantment. Then comes something to combine enchanted gear with later. "So now we have an anvil to combine things on." A second bow follows, to enchant later once there are more levels.
Still no baby
The sky is turning pink when Basket heads out to watch for endermen one more time and sees only a zombie. One villager is still out in the open somewhere. "I can't believe that guy is still alive out there. What a trooper." As the sun comes up, "things are burning up, let's head back to our house." Basket ends the episode alive in the villagers' room, checking one more time. "Are you guys breeding? No." The end card follows with no gameplay after it.
