Episode 14 of Kill the Dragon, Michael Deering's December 2016 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge, starts in the villagers' room with the usual news. "So these are my villagers that aren't breeding." Basket gives up on them for now. "So we're going to skip them for now." There's a new plan instead. "One thing I was thinking I could try and do to help out the situation is I could try and get a Looting sword."
Rolling the enchanting table
Down at the enchanting table, Basket burns a few levels on cheap level-one enchants just to change what the table offers. Knockback, Fire Aspect, Sharpness and Bane of Arthropods all come up. "Okay, this isn't working out so far." Then Looting III shows up, with a level requirement of 30. "So now we need 30 levels and we can get Looting III." Basket even has a plan for two swords: "eventually I can combine these two swords if I have enough levels."
Off to a zombie spawner
For the levels, Basket checks some notes on where a zombie spawner was found, hoping it "could potentially work out for getting a bunch of easy experience." Basket packs light, "because we'll want some space for bringing stuff back plus, you know, potentially zombie flesh." The spawner sits past a ravine. "Okay, here's the ravine. Let's make sure I don't fall and die." Finding the room takes some digging and some guessing. "I feel like it's this way."
A room full of zombies
The spawner room is packed when Basket breaks in. The sword for this job is a Smite sword, "basically a junk sword, so I don't have to worry about wasting it." Once the room is lit and closed up, there's a chest to check. "Was there anything good in here?" Inside are wheat, bread, bones and an iron ingot. "Oh, I guess string's good."
A quick grinder
Basket doesn't want to spend episodes on a full build. "I'm not going to build a whole zombie spawner and stuff because that would probably take a few episodes." Instead it's a water bucket in one corner to push the zombies into place, a crafting bench, a sign and some blocks, "a really real quick sort of zombie grinder." It isn't perfect. "Baby zombies will still come to me, but that's fine." Basket also keeps the rotten flesh "in case I end up getting a priest."
A shaft for next time
Between waves, Basket starts a ladder shaft up from the spawner, "so I can easily get to here again if I need more levels," hoping not to hit gravel on the way. It's still night, so the surface can wait. "I'm not going to go out on the surface anyway, but I'm going to at least prep this." The levels climb to 27 on screen, a few short of 30. Basket ends the episode alive down at the spawner, still killing zombies. "At least now I have a zombie spawner." The end card follows with no gameplay after it.
