Day two of the second attempt starts where the first day ended, in the walled-in cave under the far forest. The rules say Basket has to be back in the mushroom biome on day two, and after that the forest is off limits. All wood from now on has to come from Basket's own tree farm. The witch is still a long way off.
Rain on day two
Basket grabs what's left in the cave and heads for the way out. It's morning, but it's raining, and that matters: "I don't know how much it's raining, so I don't know if they're going to burn up or not." Something is still waiting around the corner.
A zombie with a shovel
A skeleton takes a hit in the tunnel, then a zombie walks out toward the torchlight. "I hear a zombie dude with an iron sword. No, a shovel." Basket kills it, notes "there's a spider up there," and wants out "before creeper shows up." One more rule to keep: "we need to not collect any more trees at this time."
Lost on the coast
With enough food to sprint, Basket follows the shore through the rain, checking the way now and then. It doesn't work. "Oh, this is not right at all. I'm going to make a boat because I think I passed it somehow." A crafting table goes down on the sand, a boat goes in the water, and Basket paddles back along the coast. When the boat is done, Basket wrecks it on the shore and grabs some sugarcane.
There's a second mistake in the directions too. The spot Basket wrote down is where you spawn, not the mushroom biome itself. Then the giant mushrooms come into view. "Oh there we go, ok good, we are no longer lost." The trip has eaten most of the day.
Sundown in the mushroom biome
Basket chops into the giant mushrooms as the sky turns red. Monsters don't spawn here, but Basket won't count on that: "they could still spawn outside of the area and then wander all the way over here to come get me." On the way across the biome Basket fills a bucket with lava, then moves it off the hotbar "so I don't kill myself."
The name tags are right here
Working out where the name tags are, Basket gets a surprise. "So it actually is inside this area. Interesting." That changes the plan. Basket sets up camp on the spot, fills a chest with flowers and junk, and plants saplings on dirt with torches around them, the start of the tree farm. Then Basket notices the mycelium creeping onto the dirt. "It spreads. The plot thickens."
The name tags are deep underground, and Basket guesses there's "probably a bunch of lava by it." So Basket makes a backup sword and starts digging down two blocks wide with a stone pickaxe. Slow digging has an upside: it "won't break out from underneath me." The shaft opens into a cave anyway, and Basket grabs some coal for torches.
That's the end of the day. Basket is alive, partway down to the name tags, with a camp and the first saplings up top. No witch yet. The credits roll after the pause menu, with no gameplay after them.
