Day six of Michael Deering's October challenge, where the job is to make life good for the villagers of Aerdis Village in hardcore mode. Two guest voices are on the call this time, named in the edited-in captions: Max_Writer and lostinthefort, each playing their own copy of the seed. The player who went out last episode is missed early on. "There's been a lot less screaming the last two episodes, and that makes me sad."
Back to the quarry
Basket starts at the house base, digs through the big chest for the iron shovel, and heads out past the wall with it. "Okay, I need to get some sand out." The quarry from last episode gets a lot deeper. Basket digs down through the sand into the sandstone below and lights the pit as it goes.
There's a trick with the torches, too. Torches go down on the pit floor, and the sand that drops onto them breaks loose as items instead of landing as blocks. Basket isn't sold on it. "I'm not sure this whole torch thing is really working very well." Then again, "I think it's probably faster than just straight up digging."
House number two
Back in the village, the plan keeps changing. "I'm gonna build my first building in Aerdis Village." Then, "I should start with the blacksmith shop, shouldn't I?" Then, "Ah, I'm so indecisive!" A tree comes down, and Basket settles on "another exact same house I just made."
The sun sets with the walls half up. Basket keeps going in the dark, digging out the floor and laying sandstone and smooth sandstone. It takes a lot of blocks. "Wow, there's one stack of sandstone gone." A door goes on, after a moment of crafting sticks that were already in the inventory, and then: "Alright, house number two. Boom." It isn't quite done. "Oh, I didn't put any torches on the inside. Or glass." The glass panes go in a little later.
You are free
The villagers have spent their nights shut in behind blocked doors. This time Basket breaks one of the houses open in the middle of the night. "Maybe I need to free these guys so that they'll breed." And then: "You are free!"
The villagers crowd around, and Basket checks their trades. None of them is much help. "I want emeralds," Basket says, but the villagers either want things Basket can't get or want emeralds themselves. Outside the wall a zombie wanders past the wheat field.
A church in one night
The other job for the night is a church, laid out by counting blocks. "Now let's see if I can get this done in one night cycle. That's the thing, I bet I can't." It eats sandstone fast. "This church is taking a little more sandstone than I was ready to use." Then comes the doubt. "I might have built this church wrong." "I think it's too tall." The ground floor turns out to be too high, and the windows too.
Morning
The sun comes up before the church is anywhere near finished. "I wanted to finish this church in one night. I'm not gonna. It's not gonna happen." Basket ends day six alive, hoping for "some breeding going on next episode." The end card follows, and there's no gameplay after it.
